Royal Mail repairs King Edward VIII postbox damaged in car crash

The postbox in Kingpost Parade on London Road is one of fewer than 100 issued during the nine-month reign of King Edward VIII in 1936 and is the only one of its kind in the Guildford borough.
The box is now upright again after being hit by a car on Wednesday February 25. The driver, a in her 80s, received serious leg injuries but is now recovering.
The postbox was repaired on Tuesday and is now proudly standing upright again.
John Heywood, a mechanic at the Cycleworks shop in Kingpost Parade, saw the aftermath of the incident: "I looked out the window and saw a car full of airbags and smoke.
"She was a lovely lady, who coped well considering what had happened to her."
