"But the deal is understood to include reform of the company's pension scheme, a pay rise this year of about 2.5% and changes to long-standing working practices. "

Taken from the Link above - just what is different to the first offer that was ever made? If this IS the deal - for my part it's a NO and they can look forward to more industrial action - but this time it will be wildcat and will cost the Union a fortune - so they'd better get their arse on side.

6.9% over 2 years dvbuk55 was on offer and all the signs point to Billy and Dave accepting that offer.

Why don't people who have never been a postman/woman keep their comments to themselves. They want and come and work in a delivery office and see what shite we have to put up with.
Yes we need to change to take on the other w*****s in the postal market. Yes we must charge said w*****s more money to deliver their mail. Yes we must make sure they are not ripping us off by ensuring they are paying for what they hand to us.
And the biggest change we need to make so this company can move forward is to change the 2 tossers that are running us into the ground. :lfo :cfo

Look again - and look at the time scale. It's 5.4% from NOW until next April then 1.5% and when has the RPI been 1.5% but that isn't the issue here - most people had no qualms about the %age rise.

But 5.4%/ 2 = 2.7% over 12 months + 1.5% for the next 12 months which I make 4.2% over 24 months or 2.1% p.a. or maybe I'm wrong.

Or put it this way 6.9% over 18 month's form now till april 2009 + £175 in back pay from now to april 2007 + the 1.5% is dependent on change to pension's & flexibillty.

This must have been staged when you think about it, talks take place on friday dave and billy agree with crozie to accept deal, now union have got to think up some idea how to call strike off mon tues whilst they convince us its a good deal, dave says to crozie i know what we will make out we got the figures wrong you go to court and get a high court injunction and we will go from there.(funny how it took rm to friday to get court case)P>S did anyone notice dave and billy shaking hands and laughing with crozier in the foyer When it was shown on news 24 0n friday.

John 'Don't you dare insult me by calling me a socialist' Hutton wrote:"There is no way Royal Mail is going to be successful unless it reforms and changes and becomes as efficient as some of its competitors," he said.
Does that mean we don't have to make anymore deliveries? Oh dear, wotta shame, never mind! :dance :dance :dance :cool
I don't suppose your mouth bleeds every 28 days, does it?

any acceptable deal MUST include keeping final salary pension for existing members and d2d payments. i personally won't be affected by the flexible bollox as i always work to my time whether it's summer winter or tuesdays, i'm just naturally slow and walk about daydreaming of the gooners sweeping all before them this season and other good things
