No party is without individuals that are in it for themselves. However you say that spending your way out of recession is a bad idea. At the end of World War 2 this country was on it,s knees financially. What happened, Labour introduced the National Health Service and mega money was spent on getting it up and running, creating worth while well paid jobs and creating a growing economy that was for the benefit of all the people. Roads and infrastructure also played a big part on getting this country up and running. The Tory,s have created a growing economy on the backs of the working people and benefiting only the rich and famous, who use every trick in the book to reduce or not pay their due taxes. Had it not been for the Liberals you would not now be benefiting from a £10500 a year personal tax allowance.

At the end of WW2 we were bankrupt completely and utterly, the country was battered, houses and transport was ruined, the American Marshall plan helped to rebuild Europe and to set up the NHS and transport infrastructure which was essential to rebuild the economy, we still had to pay the loan off which was finally done in 2006, the equivalent cost of the loan in today's value is £27bn. this is investment in the future.

The consequences of the loan was we were beholden to the US and they called the tune, directed our foreign policy, hasty dismantling of the British Empire before the countries were ready to take responsibility for self government this led to dictators taking over and ethnic violence, the Americans got their money twice over creating the "American dream" with its housing and infrastructure intact and was built on money coming in from the loans.

The situation today is very different from post WW2, if you spend your way out of a recession this involves money we don't have, simple house economics, if you are only bringing x amount of money into the household and want to spend a bit more than you have, this means going to a bank/Building Society for a loan which most certainly will have conditions attached to it and interest payments, making it more expensive in the long run, its a matter of cutting your cloth to suit if you want to remain financially solvent. we don't want to leave the next generation saddled with debts, we need to go into wealth creation and invest in people training skills to match. other nations have managed to create sovereign surplus in their bank accounts through sensible financial dealings.

During the 18 years of Tory Britain 1979 to 1997 we saw that administration sell off the nations wealth, destroy the industrial heartland and have the benefit of the best years of income from North Sea Oil. In 1997 we were left with children having to learn in temporary terrepin huts because the sachool buildings were in such decay with water leaking through the roofs, we had waiting list delays in the National Health Service of 18 months, we had railways and roads that were in decay because of lack of investment. It took a labour government to come in and put the pride back into education and a result of this are the standard of the schools that our children are now educated in and for which the Tories withdrew further funding immediately they took back over the running or mis running of this country. The Tories certainly did not fix the roof when the sun shone during 1979 to 1997. They now want to sell off the last pieces of Britain that we own, such as the Woodlands and now the National Parks.
You may say that Labour did overspend during their time in office, but it was certainly money that needed spending and investing in the future for our children. No one could have forecast the collapse of world banks and at a time when Gordon Brown was keeping our banks afloat, the Tories were opposing this. Had the banks been allowed to collapse, this country would have spiralled into an irretrievable position. By 2010 the economy had started to turn round and growing around the 2% mark. The Tories austerity measures automatically put us back into recession and it has taken them five years to achieve any growth again. We were told that the books would be balanced within their first term in office. All we have seen is a reduction in the amount of annual expenditure, mainly off the backs of the poor and incapacitated, whilst borrowing has increased and the national debt now stepping into the trillions.
To try and rationalise the running of a country,s economy against the running of a family household budget is pure folly. If we are really interested in making sure our children are not left with our debt then we have to provide an economy where entrepreneurs can obtain funding for investment, providing full time permanent well paid jobs, and not the zero hour, low paid, fixed term contracts that are blighting our economy and causing the race to the bottom, whilst at the same time making sure that what assets the country still has are not sold off and are improved for the benefit of our childrens future.

My grandmother once said to me that the 2 main parties are two sides of the same coin. 1 Knows the cost of everything and the value of nothing, the other the Value of everything and cost of nothing.

The frightening thing is if you follow the logic, the best party, in her estimation, would be the Lib Dems.

Ukip or the Greens for me, fed up with the mainstreem and time for a big change as is happening all across Europe, who wants 5 more years of decay?
But having anti European views I hope for the Conservatives to win if one of the main 2 have to be in power as they offer a in out referendum on Europe and its well past the time to get out.

Not so sure about that. What about the defence of this nation. We have aircraft carriers without aircraft. We have reduced the footsoldiers by 40,000 since 2010. We have taken aircraft like the Harrier out of service, whilst at the same time we can paint the tail planes of the red arrows on a regular basis yet what is their defence capability.

Yet we still find the money for hundreds, or thousands, of desk bound officers. :cuppa :cuppa :cuppa :cuppa :cuppa :cuppa :cuppa :cuppa :cuppa :cuppa :thumbup

I'm certainly not disagreeing with you Lincox on the what is wrong with the country and I'm against zero hours contracts, selling off national assets, just the difference in application of solutions, renationalisation would be prohibitively expensive and not viable, the Brown adminstration was a disaster he destroyed our pensions, he made a lot of mistakes as did Cameron.

I personally think we should avoid borrowing money on the international market so that we won't be beholden to anyone, the last thing we want is more debt on top of other debts. We owe enough as it is.

That said I would rather have Cameron instead of Miliband. Farage certainly speaks his mind and pretty much says what we are thinking he is untried in policy,

The RAF Hawks are Carrier Capable, (with modifications) and the Red Arrow ones have exactly the same capability and missions as the 100 Sqn ones. The Navy also have 2 seater training ones which can be adapted for active service when needed.
