Recruitment

Post by MrMen101 »

Hi everyone, I got a text message from royal mail this morning saying "angard staffing solutions would like to like invite you to a face to face interview for casual flexible resource position at Greenford MC" and i also got an email from angard advising me to book an interview with them which I did on 5th march. I really can't remember registering with angard let alone applying through their website. I do however remember applying for a job with royal mail a couple months back. is angard part of royal mail? anyway I have a few questions and if anyone could answer it would be much appreciated.

1- Is the Casual Flexible Resource role usually full time e.g over 37 hours? as it says flexible I doubt it's full time, but can anyone confirm?
2 - What is the starting hourly rate for new recruits?
3 - Any tips on what they might ask on the interview
4 - How long is each shift
5 - Are there night and day shifts or is the MC only open in the day?

Yes Angard is a subsidiary of RM.
1. No not usually.
2. Depends on the office you are working for but after 12 weeks the usual rules kick in.
3. Have you worked on your own, as a team, have you been on a position of responsibility etc. Although with Angard it seems like a formality.
4. Varies according to needs.
5. Both and more - MCs work 24 hours a day except sundays.

Thanks for clearing that out. One more question... what happens after the 12 weeks? would angard switch me over to royal mail completely or would I still have to deal with them when it comes to getting shifts and so on? The reason I ask is because I've worked for a few different companies before through various agency, and once a certain about of period had passed (like the 12 weeks you mentioned) they would transfer us completely to the companies control.

You'd still have to deal with Angard but after 12 weeks (with provisions) then you'd quality for equal pay etc as permanent staff - Its all covered under the Agency Workers Regulations.

Loads of stuff on here about it but also at the Governments Official Portal https://www.gov.uk/agency-workers-your-rights/overview" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

To be honest you'll probably get more shifts through contacts rather than Angard (at least it seems that way from outside Angard) but you'll need to keep a tight record as Angard will be the ones paying you, however you get a shift.
