Instead, the Shrubbery Avenue residents have been left scratching their heads wondering why the pillar box has been given an eye-catching al-pink makeover.


Your Worcester News is awaiting a response from Royal Mail but it is thought to be a primer put on during a legitimate makeover and not the work of a guerilla artist.

In August 2012, a number of post boxes were painted gold in the hometowns of victorious Olympians.

The dramatic paint job is not the work of a guerrilla artist but is in fact legitimate work being carried out on behalf of Royal Mail.

A spokeswoman confirmed that the pillar box had been primed with pink paint on yesterday before it was painted back to its more traditional red colour today.

There is currently a programme of postbox refurbishments in the WR1 postcode area of the city as part of an ongoing UK programme of refurbishing postboxes.
