Former Beacon student and Crowborough postman signs for National League speedway team.

strudwick_niallNiall Strudwick, aged 24, has been named as Eastbourne’s Eagles official No 8 for the coming season.

He is known to many supporters having taken his first speedway rides at Arlington.

Niall was last year a member of the MK Knights Midland Development League winning team which rode home meetings at Mildenhall.

He started his speedway career at the age of 11 riding on the Eagles’ junior track and has frequently raced on the senior circuit.

Niall rode for the Eastbourne junior team when it regularly took to the track at Arlington after Elite League meetings. In 2009 he was named junior rider of the year.

He has ridden for a number of clubs in the south and in 2012 was a member of the Mildenhall squad which swept all before it in the National League.

In Southern Track Riders events, he has enjoyed a number of successes.

A change in rules for the National League this year means clubs must name a No 8, which Niall said was a “fantastic” idea. The No 8 must be ready to race.
