I think it would be fair to ask why this office has continued to fill vacancies with full-time members over the past few years while at the same time becoming more and more inefficient?
Has it become a dumping ground for displaced mailcentre staff?
Whose interests did this serve?
Is this the real end result of the big strong "take no s**t" London Divisional Commitee, massive inefficiences that put all our jobs at risk?

Those 25 VRs will cost the company around £1.25 million...from one office, what are the chances of Royal Mail recouping that kind of money from that one office in the next couple of years?..or will they just turn a blind eye to the mess and come looking elsewhere for the money?
good times, bad times you know I've had my share

Is redundancy offered to both full time and part time?

Two of us (23.5 hours per week) job share a full time duty.

We've both been asked if we want to take redundancy, and we've said yes. Signed a paper, and dated it, and had a print out of how much we are being offered.

She's since phoned me and said it's for full timers only. So why were we asked :no no

Disappointing if we can't as we both want to go - what a let down if so

dingo said that in Delivery Offices VR is only offered to FT staff as it is FT duties that RM are cutting.

That's where the confusion comes in, as we are part time sharing a full time duty. The union rep I spoke to said the job share situation hasn't come up before so he'll get back to me about it.

Apparently the paper we signed was to say we would be interested IF redundancy was offered.

Another question - if it's only for full timers, then why were WE asked upstairs to see if we were interested, if it's not for part timers?

The print out we had was a pro rata offer.

RM must be desperate to cut staff numbers. One guy in our office retires in 4 months and has been offered £22k VR plus an early finish instead of working the notice period. Another is 64, has no plans to retire and has been offered £32k.

According to MTSF2 VR Ready Reckoner at 44 years old and with 26 years service the VR payment would be 95.625 weeks.

Shouldn't the VR Ready Reckoner be a stickie somewhere for ease of reference?
It seems like a lot of people need to consult it.
The societies of consumption and squandering of material resources are incompatible with the idea of economic growth and a clean planet.

I did post it before, and I think TBT has put it somewhere, but people aren't doing a search for it.

I'm attaching it again here. Unfortunately the odd number of years for length of service are printed on a blue background and can't be read on scan.
Edit: And it doesn't seem to enlarge when you click on it like it does in original post (in 'Redundancy' thread).
