And so if that "more work" is prepping and delivering D2D that haven't been delivered the day before, (for whatever reason) can you refuse on the spurious assertion that you only have to do 1/6th a day?Bahia Feliz wrote:If you finish early it's up to your lino/dom to find you more work to take you to your finish time.clashcityrocker wrote:Do you think he could refuse to do more than 1/6th a day and finish 30 minutes early?

Forget asking the DOM to write it down. Simply email moya with a link to your post. You showed good faith, a manager is not correctly doing his job and it's caused a knock on effect. You should not now have to come up with solutions for problems others have laid the foundation for in the first place!apple wrote:ask the DOM to put in writing the fact that he wants you to roll over the d2ds into another week when they are contracted to go out the week before, then email moya with it see what happens.

Wouldn't that include doing more D2D?Bahia Feliz wrote:If you finish early it's up to your lino/dom to find you more work to take you to your finish time.clashcityrocker wrote:Do you think he could refuse to do more than 1/6th a day and finish 30 minutes early?

As Clash points out you can't "refuse" to do any kind of work that would be considered inside the scope of your training, You can only refuse to work beyond your contracted hours because that is a legal right.
Saying you only have to do 1/6th D2D a day is much the same as saying you only have to deliver 1016 items of mail because that's what the model week is based on. If you have time to do it, you do it, If you don't and don't want to work over then use the overrunning deliveries procedure. It shouldn't happen and someone should get their arse kicked for letting it happen but at the end of the day it's due for delivery so needs to be delivered.
A golden rule in this game is never refuse to do anything, make it hard for them, make lots of noise, make them pay for it, don't go faster or give anything for free but don't be dumb enough to "refuse" yourself out of a job.

The 1/6 a day rule is obviously not set in stone, So if you are on a delivery that has not had any d2d prepped you should therefore seek instructions from a manager on how many you should prep in that day and,use the overrunning delivery guidelines if need be.clashcityrocker wrote: And so if that "more work" is prepping and delivering D2D that haven't been delivered the day before, (for whatever reason) can you refuse on the spurious assertion that you only have to do 1/6th a day?
That could be anything including prepping d2d's.Bahia Feliz wrote:If you finish early it's up to your lino/dom to find you more work to take you to your finish time.

The original poster. Reading btl he has opted to do mostly all the d2d prep instead of 1/6th. Hence he has NOT done the job properly. I can understand why he has a grievance doing 4/6th d2ds but,and it's a very big but,he was in the wrong. Doing 90%+ in 3 days? You wonder why union reps are banging their heads?clashcityrocker wrote:Who are you talking to?El-Bandito wrote:RM love part time guys like you. What should he have done with his spare time? Read the paper? Chatted on the phone? Played Candy Crush?
Would these actions have ensured him a full time contract in the years ahead?
