Why are we not being paid the £1,400 bonus
I have just been thinking why the vr people in supply chain should not be entitled to the £1,400 bonus due end march. Firstly, the vr people had a vote about the terms and the new way forward in the company; then we are most likely being kept on until the new duties etc are up and running; therefore we will probably still be working up until end of march at least. So if we were in on these moves [which really are meaningless to those that are leaving], why involve us with voting etc. which involves us in pushing forward the company's future plans and then after giving them the answers they were hoping for, kick you in the teeth and turn round and say thanks for voting to move the company forward, thanks for dropping down to being a reserve and helping the new duties along [as your seniority goes for a burton at this time as you cannot be given a duty cos you will be leaving]; also if you are still at work when the bonus is paid, surely you are still employed and in post with the company which in my eyes means entitlement to the bonus which lets not forget, the agreement said WOULD BE PAID WHEN THE NEW DUTIES WERE UP AND RUNNING and not just for the workforce who would be carrying on with the duties. So ending this, if any workers going out on vr are still being kept on when the duties are running do you not agree with my judgement.

Re: Why are we not being paid the £1,400 bonus
Hi Wardy, yes I totally agree with what you are saying but when it's raised it falls on deaf ears with the union ,it seems to me that they are only interested in who is staying and anybody wanting VR fend for your self .had my quote yesterday just 6months money for 27years and a crap pension despite on the new agreement which we voted on in good faith stating the minimum compensation 12 months pay but it seems that's not for anyone over 55 which it did not state and despite emailing head office to try and get some info yet again no response , then to cap it all off in a meeting with my manager to be told we have to arrange for a solicitor to read and sign a acceptance agreement yet again no word from the union which everybody will have to do if they are going at a cost of £350 which will be payed by the post office but if it goes over you will have to pay . It would have been nice to have some guidance through the process as it is a big decision to take and it has to be the right one instead of having to ring round and find answers yourself it has been a total shambles and I think a lot of people will be disapointed with the sums they are quoted .Its good they are looking after the ones that are staying but having payed union subs for years I think we should have been looked after just the same and not just brushed to one side I am totally disgusted with it all it was only a few weeks ago they wanted our support for strike action now they don't want to know . Sorry about going on just fuming !

Re: Why are we not being paid the £1,400 bonus
hi chilli, i was lead to believe that 12 months minimum wages would be paid at least to people, nothing less, never read anything about people over 55, it just said minimum offer 12 months. i will take it up with my union rep tomorrow. my position is that after hitting 64 and a half, i have been losing one months wages every month which, come end of march, leaves me with 1 years money, which if it went any longer than march, according to what you have been saying, then i would be walking away with less money than the proposed 12 months, so lets hope you are wrong and you and myself and anyone else get what they thought was entitled to them

Think you might find also Wardy you will only get 6 months money £13,000 approx if you are lucky . I have been offered £13,000 plus £ 2,700 per year pension for 27 years ,to get any more I will have to opt out of NRA 65 pension to get 104 weeks money which I am planning to do so I think a lot of people are going to be disappointed with the quotes given .please let your feelings be known to your union rep ! .

hi chilli, dont understand all this pension stuff, asked my union rep today and he mentioned that you might have been in the old posa pension before the pops scheme and i was in the pops scheme which he says should be okay but he also thinks that the 12 months will be paid whether you have 5 6 7 8 or whatever years service and whatever age you are as he also said who the hell over 55 and still fit, would take around 13 grand vr money rather than work on for a few more years

Re: Why are we not being paid the £1,400 bonus
Letter from Carl Maden please read and show to your union rep , Mtsf for members between 55 and above who are paying into the pension scheme, pays 6 months money and 37 p/c enhancement of your pension until retirement age as long as it costs no more than 2.years money .The minimum 6 months is for the members with short service where that is all that they get ie no pension enhancement . You can ring HR they will clarify I have asked the question so don't get your hopes up I pay into the latest pension scheme ie work place pension so not the old one , what I have had to do is opt out of the NRA 65 pension which is next to nothing because we haven't payed in much to get 104weeks money which is now what I have got and have advised my mate to do the same who is 64 he will now get 2yrs money instead of 6months he also was quoted ,so you see he is telling you wrong the best thing I would advise you to do is to ring HR I think they will tell you what I have said . The reason I am getting out is because of being attacked 4 times in 2 years ,all going one man ,longer routes , and the general crap that's going on ,let me know how you get on .
