I had monthly pay before in another job. But now everything is set up for weekly pay so unless they help us adjust with advances of pay its not something I want. The reason RM want it is so they can make more money with the interest they gain for keeping the money longer.

no feckin way been there got the tee-shirt great for the first week then struggle IF by any chance RM bring it in then i would be looking for at least Â£1500 up front for the privilege

RM also want it so they can reduce costs at Sheffield. They wouldn't need as many staff there, surely, if there are only 12 payroll runs per year intead of 52 ??

Drivers are being switched over to monthly pay already, so it's obvious RM are going to want us on monthly pay too at some point

And as the CWU agreed to put in a aggrement for their mbrs to vote on then its got to be a matter of time before RML processing and delivery staff will find it coming their way?

That's what I was thinking, too.

Although the CWU could go back to Royal Mail and say "12 months ago, you made an agreement to give us a no-strings pay deal this year, flowing through to all allowances, overtime, SA etc which you've now gone back on. So agreements are clearly not worth the paper they are written on. So you can stick your monthly pay idea"

guess it comes down to what you are used to. we've always had our pay monthly and i wouldnt want it weekly. i'd never be able to afford my rent coz i'd just spend everything knowing i was getting paid again in 7 days.

On the other hand, when sheffield screw up it really sucks to have to wait a month for them to be able to pay you what you're owed.

As Daz said, it would be good if we had the option of either. Since some parts of the bussiness already get paid weekly and some monthly i dont see how it would be any more difficult for them to give us the choice.

Too true my rent would wipe out a pay packet it they put us onto Monthly pay without any grant.

Where has this come from anyway? They havn't mentioned Monthly pay in this pay deal have they?
