A deal to end the dispute that has crippled Britainâ€™s postal service was agreed between Royal Mail and Communication Workers Union (CWU) officials late last night.

In a brief statement, the two sides said: â€œThe agreed terms covering all the issues in the dispute will be considered by the unionâ€™s executive on Monday. Both parties will make a further statement thereafter.â€

Basic pay will rise to about Â£347 for a 40 hour week contract

Overtime rates rise by the same % 5.4 and 1.5

If its true then its a fiddle to try and make us think we got more than we actually did. I cant find it now but a member did predict this part about a month ago saying that the pay would not be backdated.

Exactly.

This needs working out, my maths is a bit s**t but worth a try.

Will work on the basis of getting Â£100 per year - easy to work out real amounts via that.

It's a two year deal, so:

Two years x Â£100 = Â£200

If it was backdated you'd get:

Â£200 x 6.9% = Â£213.80

But, you're only getting ~ 18 months.

Â£150 x 6.9% = Â£160.35
Â£160.35 + Â£50 already paid = Â£210.35

So it's really a 5.175% increase real terms, works out about 2.5% / year unless I've gone wrong somewhere.

Going on Â£347 basic pay according to Big Daz:

104 weeks x Â£347 = 36088

Backdated deal would mean: Â£2490 extra over two years
Not backdated: Â£1867

i.e. Â£600 less. So a 2.5% pay rise is made to look like 6.9% by not backdating and applying it to two years. As well as that, it's still only 3.5% a year even if taken at face value - so below inflation.

With D2D payments probably cut out, could still mean a net pay cut even taking inflation out of the picture completely. f***ing depressing and it's not even my wages.

More - it's potentially complete bloody capitulation on all fronts if it's agreed.

Sorry I mean even if inflation was 0 it might be a net pay cut given some say they're earning Â£30+/week from D2Ds.

I don't even want to think about what things are going to be like if this is accepted. UCU's pay deal was made last time when it was still the AUT I think, so probably up for renewal within the next 6 months, we'll probably get slaughtered. edit: If anyone cares I was almost right

I hope flexible working is kicked out and that they are not touching our pensions in any way, because if these issues are waterd down then I will be voting no to the deal. I have paid into the pension for over 30 years and I want what I signed up for all those years ago. I say again f--k AL and f--k AC the c--ts

this deal looks quarkey to quite alot of people. there is no doubt that in real terms its a pay decrease. alot of resentment is going to build up agains the union if they bring forward this kind of offer.
