Given that there were 60 odd MCs and there are now 30 something(?) it would be strange if an MC wasn't experiencing higher levels of traffic.

Very true I reckon that in 2016 there will be another reshuffle of Postcodes mainly due to Gatwick and Croydon possibly merging, Greenford mayb relocating due to HS2. Things change and I'm sure that in the rest of the country some offices are taking in more work and may have to to relocated to a bigger office like Portsmouth and Southampton. Is Romford big enough for East London?

I wouldn't be surprised to see a new MC built on the Ford site in Southampton eventually, RM could have stuff arrive by rail by building a mini rail hub there

I can't really see that.Would involve the cost of a new MC,plus the rollingstock for the rail side of things.
There is also a large amount of building restructering going on at SOMC atm,so would seem unlikely as a short term measure.

The rolling stock already exists, it has done for a number of years. Restructuring of a building means nothing as any MC could be emptied in a week maybe two if RM wanted.

If you look at where SOMC is, it's a prime bit of land should the new owners of the airport want to build a second terminal so it places a ? on the future of SOMC.

A packet machine that only does 30000 a day sounds rubbish
And must be for mc that don't have high volume. In my MC were doing double if not triple that.

According to our area processing rep, it looks like the Dorset MC may be doing some kind of parcel trial, using scanners - which I presume will be used in the mail centres not big enough to accomodate the large sorting machines.

According to our mail centre manager, Jubilee will be the first mail centre to have the packet sorting machine coming in November this year 2015.

And bringing 1 IMP machine and 4 people will be working on the machine and l don't know what the rest of us will be doing.
