IP was under review for ages then closure was announced, but someone said they now have a stay of execution? Is this true?

That rather depends on what versions are offered in response to the tender. Swindon may be able to accommodate between one and three depending on what is come up with. Work on the basis of it being as long as an iLSM and as wide as 3-4 and you're probably not far wrong. So if your office can't fit an iLSM in easily you don't have a hope in hell of getting a parcel sorter. They'll be limited to super-MCs/RDCs or the smaller offices will become exclusively parcel centres with all other mail on permanent divert to a super MC.

Due to happen early 2015.
Do they have room for some of the stacker modules from the one to go to be bolted to the ends of the existing iLSMs (once the electrical box is moved further along?

Has anyone heard anything concrete about the approx footprint of the packet sorting machines that RM are going to go for?
Not unless the move the walkway, and the 2 CSS machines futher towards the delivery section..

PE is to lose it's 2nd class IP mail to CM as well soon.

Packet machine now to be in by early 2016 at PE.
And after a while, you can work on points for style,
Like the club tie, and the firm handshake,
A certain look in the eye and an easy smile.

You have to be trusted by the people that you lie to,
So that when they turn their backs on you,
You'll get the chance to put the knife in.

If they did bolt the stacker modules onto the end, could they move enough CSS plans to the iLSMs to get rid of any CSS machines? Is there any other areas of the MC where the two CSS machines could be relocated to? Do the other CSS machines have the room for the stacker modules from them 2 CSSs machines to be bolted onto the others?

To be honest, there's just not the space..

Of the 3 iLSM's that WILL be left at PE, the 2 CSS machines are at the end of 2 of the iLSM's. They COULD expand the CSS's with more modules (as they run North to South), but they can't expand 2 of the iLSM's (which run East to West - if you get my drift!)

The supposed packet machine is going in the space where the 4th iLSM is at the minute.

Have they said how wide it'll be? Presumably it'll be no longer then your existing iLSMs - what numbers are your overflow stackers at the electrical cabinet end of your iLSMs?

No idea on how wide it is..

Our stackers go up to 80 at the minute.... Much more and us old farts on them will need those Segway things to get up and down the machine!!
