parcelforce drivers targets.
Nearly all the drivers in my depot and 3 neighboring depots are on the verge of asking the CWU to come in for a private meeting in respect of the CWU organizing a secret ballot for a work to rule, A WORK TO RULE until the whole targets issue has been resolved.
Drivers are not getting any kind of break and the management are mercilessly pressurizing all the drivers to the point of exhaustion, A number have already left or are off sick due to the daily unrealistic targets being imposed by the management.
What do you say?

Re: parcelforce drivers targets..work to rule ballot
Something needs to be done about it. Fair enough, targets need to be met (what's a manager without his bonus after all) but they simply don't have enough people aiming to hit them. Where I am Christmas pressure hasn't stopped, January used to be fairly light so you could recover from the hell that is December. It's not so bad for me, being a collections only driver. More or less the same amount of collections albeit just with mountains more parcels and less and less time to get them on board and onto the next place but it's manageable at the moment - without a break. However I'm seeing good people on routes, the ones who taught me the job at their wits end, people who used to like (some even love) the job. It's sad. Really sad how shabbily they're being treated in particular because I'm talking about the people that helped sort out the mess that was Parcelforce through hard work and their own pride just not giving a f*** anymore. I know it's just a job, but it don't half drag you all down when everyone wants out. So yeah, I'd support any action that helped my colleagues out, but I've learnt over the years we don't rock the boat at Parcelforce. And the CWU is more than content with that.

I'm not surprised, probably a lot of the extra that you're getting through that wouldn't have come through last year is stuff that would have been sent via CitiLink. I don't think RM, PF or any rival courier could have expected CitiLink to just cease trading like thatthe_damned wrote:Something needs to be done about it. Fair point, though I only mentioned January as an aside really, this situation has been going on for at least nine months. The volume coming in from post offices for example has increased to an extreme. Whatever the figures say, I know because I'm picking them up!SpacePhoenix wrote:I'm not surprised, probably a lot of the extra that you're getting through that wouldn't have come through last year is stuff that would have been sent via CitiLink. As for citylink, we had a load of xmas casuals they could have kept on to cope with any increase from that sad story, but they bumped them all off and I'm not seeing many vacancies for jobs on the rmg website. They're taking the piss it's as simple as that.
Hilariously we had a memo printed and given to all drivers critisising the them for not hitting 9am deliveries when 3 weekdays out of five we have late trailers arriving from Coventry sometimes even after 9am so the drivers can't leave even if they wanted too! Yet management are fine, logistics are fine, it's the poor sods at the sharp end who are the problem. Demoralising isn't the word.

Do you get many 9am's? If you don't get too many, why doesn't management send one of you out with them, then at least the ones that have got to the depot on time will be done by 9amthe_damned wrote:Hilariously we had a memo printed and given to all drivers critisising the them for not hitting 9am deliveries when 3 weekdays out of five we have late trailers arriving from Coventry sometimes even after 9am so the drivers can't leave even if they wanted too! Re: parcelforce drivers targets..work to rule ballot
At my depot we have all been told that none of us are achieving the correct numbers each day. Which is very strange because I have a letter from our opps manager, from early last year, stating the numbers i should be doing and I'm exceeding that daily.

Re: parcelforce drivers targets..work to rule ballot
I totally agree with you, there is no slack at anytime of the year and the pressure is now all year round, every single day. I know a few drivers are now not arguing their case each morning with their line manager( simply because they haven't got the time to) but are just counting up their deliveries and collections and taking the target amount out but are then returning to the depot at night with OOT, Out of Time, delivery failures, which rolls over to the next day and so on. This totally goes against the grain for most drivers I know because they all want to 100% clear their route every day. Drivers then have to explain why they have failures ......Its been going on for a long time and has nothing to do with citylink going bust. All the drivers want to know is how these targets have been worked out? The CWU, should be aware of this and get involved with the issues that are affecting its members conditions and realize that something very wrong is going on....But we can talk amongst ourselves till we all fall down What We need is the CWU to go round the depots for a meeting to hear whats going on and then get the CWU to talk with the management to work things out, the management wont listen to drivers, but they will have to listen to all the drivers via the union.the_damned wrote:Something needs to be done about it. Re: parcelforce drivers targets..work to rule ballot
Dear Jimbo, thanks for reply, Every driver in all our local depots has a target imposed upon each and every route. This is every single day! How the CWU is not aware of this is beyond us!Jimbo CWU wrote:Hi there are no Targets In Parcelforce there is a utilisation of 90% across the depot not individual routes, have you guys spoken to your Rep/Branch/Regional Organiser ? if your not sure whom to talk to ring CWU HQ 0208 971 7200 they will forward you to the correct CWU Branch if any of you's are from London Region give me a call 07545141846 regards

Re: parcelforce drivers targets..work to rule ballot
Hi guys
I will be at a meeting at the Preston depot with Mark on Teusday . I will show him the posts and speak to him about the issue . Jimmy is right there are no agreed targets on delivery routes. Delivery (core ) routes are are built around 90 utilisation (100 BSI) and daily workloads and flexibility is agreed by the CWU Rep , Manager and the delivery driver. This is covered under the Blueprint and other associated agreements.
