Parcelforce driver sacked for safeplacing customers parcel.

Says he got sacked, let this be a warning to everybody, CCTV is on the rise nowadays so signing and posting recordeds is just not worth it, it only takes one customer to complain.

It shouldn't be described as safe placing the customers parcel in this circumstance. we are only allowed to safe place a tracked item in the place designated by the sender in the safe place box on the label, no safe place instruction on label it gets p739d (or dtn)

This guy looks like an agency driver,propably feels under pressure to deliver all his parcels.
He should of tried a neighbour or left it at a local PO.In some cases and it states on the delivery label,instructions where to leave it with a NSR (no signature required ) sticker.The driver inputs a 7 digit number on the device screen,maybe this is what he was signing .
He should of least left a739 card to tell the customer where he left it.(if he had any)
Don't know what the customers problem is,they have the parcel,they should of stayed in if they ordered stuff.

Must be more to it than that no way should of driver got the sack, common practise in our office, but going to stop doing favours for public if that's how we are treated, I hope the nasty TW£T that complained is happy with his life after getting the poor bloke the sack, what a selfish git.

There is no pleasing some people. Even though the Daily Mail is anti-working class and anti-Royal Mail, it is good to note that a good number of respondents were on the side of the PF worker... A lot are pleased to have things left in safe places but the guy should have left a note through the letter box.

Some many times we see Couriers leaving items on the doorstep with a delivery note on top; and we are supposed to (unofficially) copy these people because their rate of delivery - the first time - is much higher than ours. It goes to show!

Did he sign for the item? That was naughty - probably that is what got him the sack.

* I have a guy from Yodel 2 weeks ago deliver to me what was supposed to be signed - it says so in the email... I was waiting for item; so approached the door even before he could knock and was about to reach out to sign, when he said, 'he has signed it through' - naughty . The guy was in a reasonably good bright red convertible - swish!

"We spent days chasing the delivery!" Since he left no note, the family were unaware that their parcel had arrived.

If he'd left a card, the customer probably wouldn't have been upset.

The most sensible comment/question; 'just like that'.

If the parcel was trackable which perhaps it was as there was PDA action going on there... Then why did PF make such a big deal of just finding where the parcel is or what happened to it?

We had a similar incident where the postie left the parcel in a 'sage place' and also left a delivery note of where he left the parcel...

Unfortunately the card got stuck in between the letter box - some of the narrower plastic letterboxes sometimes traps flimsy letters; some of the are longer than you think - that pushing a small card will not reach the other side...

Between the customer and Parcel Force management; something that should have been sorted quickly turned into a sacking for the poor temp.

The family might not have been dealing with PF to find out where the parcel was. Let's face it- nine times out of ten, who knows who will deliver a parcel that you've ordered. Most people contact the seller when a purchase has not arrived.

So unfair we have massive pressure in our office to do extra parcels before our own delivery & stressed managers always trying to make us take more & more & not bring anything back, I think we should all wake up and start doing our job to the letter as if they are going to sack for the very thing they encourage us to do (it's fine as long as nothing goes wrong & then we will sack you if it does go wrong) .

Everybody why don't we just come in on time do whatever they ask of us & at home time go home, fair days work for a fair days pay no cutting corners ?

Absolutely. However, the customer might not have been that bothered about that if he'd known that his parcel was in his garage.

I know we're skating on thin ice here...But how do we stand when signing the PDA "P.P and your signature"?
This stands for " per procurationem" (By/through the agency of) Just like when you get letters that are signed by the Bank Managers secretary. It's a standard business practice.

As soon as we get rid of these bloody "Royal Mail Signed For" the better IMHO. I've got used to blasting through the "Scanned No Signature" and "Amazon Scanned Delivery" no problem but it always pulls me up short when I get one of those Orange Sticker!

Don't have a problem with "Specials" as I realise what they're used for, and think they're a good product.
