Latest Offer
So what is the offer on the table?
The money
A two year pay offer:
• 5.4% on basic pay and weekday overtime from October 2007
• 1.5% on basic pay and weekday overtime from April 2008 in return for pension reform, change and
flexibility
• That's 6.9% over two years with the next pay review date in April 2009
• Plus £175 lump sum, the 50:50 productivity scheme and ColleageShare dividends
What we need in return
The things we need you to do in return for the increases in pay:
• Introduce the operational changes eg later starts and removal of night shifts
• Adopt more flexible ways of working
• Help us modernise by using new delivery kit and machines
• Help protect existing employees pensions by supporting pension reform
Flexibility
Flexibility is about managers, postmen and women and reps working together sensibly to make sure the
work gets done in the best and most efficient way - with a bit of give and take on all sides.
Flexibility means:
• People work all the hours they are paid.
• Scheduled hours may be different on different days of the week (longs and shorts).
• Scheduled hours may vary at different times of the year eg to reflect lighter workload in the
summer (summer staffing).
• People may be asked to vary their times by up to 30 minutes - go early one day and make up the
time later in the week (swings and roundabouts).
• People carry out all the tasks that need to get done - as long as it's safe, legal and they've had any
necessary training.
• Occasionally people may be asked to work in another nearby location - using a locally agreed
process.
• People use new machines, technology and equipment and adopt new ways of working - once
they've had any necessary training.
• People cover each other's leave and absence, where they can, within their scheduled hours.
• People are treated fairly and with respect.
Flexibility does not mean:
• Getting postmen and women to work more hours than they're paid for.
• Changing what people do or the hours they work without notice and from one day to the next.
• Getting people to do things that they're not trained to do or that aren't safe to do.
• People not knowing what they are going to earn from one week to the next
• People not knowing where they are going to work from one day to the next
Why this is a good deal - and one that we think the union should accept and recommend to its
members
• This is the best we can afford given the challenges facing the business.
• Unite CMA has agreed a similar deal on pay and pensions for managers.
• Parcelforce Worldwide, and the national network of subpostmasters have both agreed similar deals
without recourse to industrial action.
Ask the CWUrep what they think would secure a deal and end this dispute

The rural sub offices etc are a drop in the ocean in the big picture however can understand the frustration we are facing when they get paid and we don't.moon71 wrote:Well some of the strike breakers in my office well fook, All rural feeder are goin in because theres no work for them!!! like rural deliveries, all in!!!! When they close down the small offices the staff will be put into the big offices making them even bigger and then see the little bstards try and scab.

going off what our area rep said yesterday at our meeting royal mail d2d have been knocked out of the agreement, he also said that 19 times royal mail have given proposals and 19 times cwu have rejected them as unreasonable they also said the only 2 things that were sticking points as at yesterday afternoon were flexible working and pensions,so basically we will still get money for d2d and election material.I have a copy here and the pay deal is indeed 6.9% over 2 years with £175 lump sun, that i guess covers april to october because the pay deal is 5.4% from october 2007 and 1.5% from april 2008.there again has things changed last night? lets wait till monday to find out

If it's 6.9% over two years, not backdated, I make it £600 owed April-October at a very rough estimate: http://www.royalmailchat.co.uk/forum/vi ... 8307#68307
Even if I'm way out, it's nothing like £175!
