Man arrested in Birmingham on suspicion of corporate manslaughter in connection with death of 15-year-old Rio Andrew at illegal Croydon rave

A MAN has been arrested on suspicion of corporate manslaughter in connection with the death of a 15-year-old boy following the illegal rave in East Croydon last summer.
Rio Andrew, a talented young athlete, died after the rave at the disused Royal Mail building next to East Croydon on June 14. He is believed to have drank from a bottle containing the drug ketamine and died on June 16.
The Metropolitan Police yesterday arrested a 41-year-old man on suspicion of corporate manslaughter, money laundering and fraud after searching two addresses in Wolverhampton and Birmingham.
The man has been bailed to return to a south London police station in April pending further enquiries.
Croydon detectives continue to investigate Rio’s death and an inquest is due to be opened at South London Coroner’s Court in Croydon but a date is yet to be confirmed.
Companies or organisations can be found guilty of corporate manslaughter if there is a gross breach of a duty of care as a result of serious management failures.
