Any offer on pay and conditions must be put to members. We will decide in a postal ballot. So we still have the power to reject or accept. I for one will be looking very closely at the offer before I decide. I will most likely reject though.

How will that work then?

you will get a ballot paper and tick yes or no. just as when we decided on the IR. As long as the papers are sent out to all members this has to be the fairest way. Still seem to have this sinking feeling but have to wait and see i suppose.

Any deal should definitely be put to members- but even before looking a postal ballot of the members surely there should be mass meeetings to decide whether to accept it and a national meeting of all reps

Postal ballots are just a stalling tactic but agree absolutely that the PEC should be held to account

When we get the ballot papers? Would the details be on cwu website monday/tuesday? Unofficially we`ll all be looking on here of course
Feel sorry for those that don`t have access to a computer, they largely rely on word of mouth no thanks to the union.

5. The Industrial Executives shall be obliged to consult the membership affected by any major agreement. If a proposed major agreement concerning the terms and conditions of employment, including hours and pay, has not previously been approved by an Industry Conference, before such a proposed agreement is signed the Industrial Executive must consult the Branches or members concerned by either Branch or individual ballot, as appropriate, the result of which shall be binding on the Industrial Executive.

In the event of Branches or members deciding that a proposed agreement be rejected, the Industrial Executive shall, if it desires, place the matter before a Special Conference.

OK, looks like it has to be put to a vote. In that case I think anyone who reckons the deal is a pile of s**t should prepare for a massive and hard fought no vote - mass meetings, more unofficial action, the whole lot.
