What is the official ruling on how long u get on breaks? Just say a average nearly 8 hour shift?

Same as most MCs - 8 hours(ish allowing for SWW) shift gets an hour break.

Quite frankly I don't see how saying if you get 20 or 30 or 40min break is "detail" - that's essential to know for your question and doesn't identify you so say it. If you only got 40min break a shift before moving your union are/were idiots. If they get 80min that's against national policy and should be cut to an hour.
baldrick wrote:There are no local agreements on length of breaks since they were all standardised by the Way Forward Agreement 2000.
All mcs get the same breaks, which are rigorously enforced these days. I can't see a MC Manager giving staff an extra 20 minutes, or he would be replaced fairly quickly. Nor can I see frontline managers giving staff on their sections extra time as they would be reported (grassed is the term generally used) by their fellow managers.
If for some reason (can't think of any) some staff are getting 20 minutes more, do you really think that reporting it to Moya would get others an extra 20 minutes? Really? No, what would happen would be that the people who are getting 20 minutes extra (allegedly) would lose it. And they are not going to be happy with the people who caused that.
Do DO staff email Moya to complain about others who might finish a bit earlier than them because it is 'discrimination'?
Actually there are local agreements WRT breaks. Our 6-10pm staff get 20min breaks in line with national policy (as national policy for 8 hours is 40min, despite full-timers getting an hour locally) but I know of MCs where staff on the same shift get 30min.

Way Forward Agreement 2000
Full-time meal break entitlements

All full-time employees working in Mail Centres on a 40-hour gross week, generally over five days, will have a standard entitlement to 40 minutes meal break per day (this means that up to 60 minutes per day total breaks can be provided by scheduling Relaxation Breaks by joint local agreement - see below).

Grace breaks

When work permits a grace break of 10 minutes, over and above the standard entitlements, should be allowed on all indoor and outdoor jobs. In no circumstances should this be scheduled. where it is not possible to provide a grace break before going out on first delivery the employee should be given the chance to have a cup of tea before leaving the office.

Relaxation Allowance

In the parts of Mail Centres covered by workload measurement and planning values, the additional grace break may be extended to 20 minutes for full-time indoor jobs and scheduled as "Relaxation Allowance", as originally agreed in connection with RRP (10 minutes may be scheduled within indoor part-time jobs), on the basis that this represents an aggregation of the relaxation allowance already built into duties and therefore does not affect the number of hours scheduled or the cost of running the office. In total this provides a maximum scheduled daily break entitlement of 60 minutes for a standard five-day indoor attendance.

Time Bonus

In some Mail Centres additional breaks have been scheduled as "time bonus" under the terms of the former bonus scheme agreements. Offices in this position will have the option of returning to standard national meal breaks by giving up the time bonus for additional bonus, or continuing with the additional break which will continue to be charged to the bonus scheme. The details will be agreed separately.

The way forward agreement also gives meal break pro-rata entitlement to the national weekly standard for part time employees e.g. someone working a 4 hour shift = 20 mins & a 6 hour shift would be entitled a 30 min meal break. Should part- timers be excluded from a grace break for working below an 8 hour shift.

PT staff are entitled to pro-rata breaks. It is in the Way Forward Agreement. I only quoted the FT MC breaks because that is what the OP was asking about. I typed it all in as I don't know how to do cut and paste, so didn't include bits that didn't relate to FT MC staff.
I think the Way Forward Agreement is in the Downloads Section on this forum, so can be read in full there.

Just checked my copy of Way Forward Agreement:

Meal breaks for non-standard, part-time and extended attendances
Part-time jobs, and full-time jobs with non-standard attendance patterns, will attract meal breaks for each daily attendance as follows, reflecting a generally pro-rata entitlement to the national weekly standard:

Attendance length................................................. total breaks...................................probable pattern

less than 2 hours 30 minutes......................................none (a 10 min grace break should be provided if work permits)
2 hours 30 to 3 hours...............................................10mins..........................................10
3 hours 1 to 3 hours 30 ............................................15 mins.........................................15
3 hours 31 to 4 hours 59 ...........................................20 mins.........................................20
5 hours to 7 hours...................................................30 mins.........................................30
7 hours 1 to 8 hours 59.............................................40 mins........................................40 or 20 + 20
9 hours to 10 hours 59..............................................50 mins .......................................30 + 20
11 hours to 12 hours 59.............................................60 mins........................................40 + 20 or 30 + 30
13 hours or longer...................................................70 mins ........................................40 + 30

Pending completion of thw discussions intended to conform with the requirements of the Working Time Regulations, any exceptional attendances of 15 hours or longer will attract an entitlement of 80 minutes.

The actual pattern of breaks within these rules will be agreed locally.

Well I didn't revive any money? Plus I don't work for Doncaster mail centre , I work for sheffield mail centre
If they want me to have my same terms ill go back to working at Doncaster?

We have to do everything sheffield way which is fair enough they get allocated leave
but in doncaster we picked are leave and if too many wanted that particular week we went into a tie break,
it worked well every year got 4/5 even sometimes the full six weeks , plus I could pick all 6 in summer
Which I personally prefered, know in Sheffield u have to pick so many in the winter so many in the summer
and it's not guaranteed which weeks you get, you kind of choose a block?

so why do I have to pick it this way because I work for sheffield?
but when it comes to breaks I work for Doncaster
Please doncaster is shut , surely I'm classed has a sheffield worker hence I'm entitled to the same ?

what would of happened if it was the other way round ? We're we had more breaks ?

Just because the union locally agreed to sell their breaks before you started doesn't entitle you to a payment but it does mean you need to put up with the new breaks unfortunately and you did work for Doncaster so are covered under the agreements made there which are still valid, any new agreements in your new mc will cover both sets of staff, as for the way your annual leave is selected being changed if you are not happy with the change ask your rep to lodge a stage 1 disagreement over the change

I wouldn't stress about it too much as the powers that be will probably close Sheffield in a couple of years and build a Yorkshire superhub somewhere
