No, but not doing it may have an adverse effect on the quantity of the manager bonus scheme and of course that's the be-all and end-all.clashcityrocker wrote:Lapsing is not supposed to have an adverse effect on quality of service.

Re: lapsing at the expense of parcels
sorry to be abit off with you. i supposed the best way is just like you said come in on your time and finish on your time but when you have one day a manager telling us how important parcels are then the next they dont matter its frustrating. i e-mailed mpoya about this once before but nothing got done. the response was that for the most part the office is clear. i can understand it when you have lots of sick leave but we dont now.jimmynailsalive wrote:If its either the mail or the parcels then I prefer to take the mail.raikky wrote:
yes thats fine if them parcels are going to be delivered that day. its not good when they are loaded into a york and shoved into the corner of the office while they sit there for almost a week. if your still fine with that then maybe you should be a manager since you dont give a s**t?
If the office is unable to clear everything then it is understaffed and the Union should be dealing with it.
You're obviously highly strung and easily upset judging by your response to me, all I'm saying as many are saying on here, you have a start and finish time, if things bother you either work on to finish the workload by doing overtime or start and finish on time, highlight anything your not happy with to your union official and go home and relax, simple really but you seem upset at 10pm on a Friday ni9ght because parcels and whatever are accumulating. You're not paid to worry about that, highlight and move on.

Take a camera or phone with camera with time and date and email the results to Moya Greene. Do it on a regular basis and see whether the responses change.

lapsing is cost neutral so should not incur o/t. it shows then that lapsing is not possible. your rep should step in

Re: lapsing at the expense of parcels
we were really short staffed last week, even the managers went out on delivery but they left all the packets/parcels of the duties they took. One rule for one, one for another!? Yet we still have to lapse!
So keep on moving, moving, moving your feet
Keep on shuf-shuf-shuffling to this ghost dance beat
Just keep on walking down never ending streets

Re: lapsing at the expense of parcels
Lapsing appears to be some sort of obsession! What about lapsing 2 walks when you have 2 spares???
We have a system where we can either lapsed 1 or 2 - works pretty well as the lapsing is not always a problem... However, why lapse 2 when you have 2 off?
You can keep one behind to mop up on some tasks that needs doing, throwing out d2ds for pts, helping on the office and sundry tasks but they have two lapse 2 for some reasons.
Having said the above, if you are understaffed especially because of absence, what can the managers do if there are not enough people to do OT and cannot borrow from another office?
We do not fail in my office - certainly not for parcels; we have people ready to do OT and office staff chip in as well as managers if need be; even with 2 off on long-term sick. It was funny how we actually have enough staff at Xmas when we were all in minus the 2 long-term sick.
