An armed man who tied up post office staff and threatened them with a BB gun during a New Year's Eve robbery has been given a life sentence.
Daniel Arthur Brady, 28, from Ifield Road, Crawley, West Sussex, was given the sentence - which has a minimum term of three years and 73 days - at Croydon Crown Court in December.
He had previously admitted two counts of robbery and one of attempted robbery.
One of the charges related to a raid at Bletchingley post office on December 31 2013, when Brady tied up a man in his 30s and a woman in her 50s and threatened them with a weapon.
He stole a sum of money, lottery scratch cards and a quantity of cigarettes.
Surrey Police turned to BBC Crimewatch in January last year to find Brady, who was caught on CCTV.
Detective Chief Inspector Antony Archibald said: "Due to the excellent CCTV footage of the offender, I was extremely hopeful the media would be able to assist us with our investigation into this frightening crime.
"We featured this case on BBC Crimewatch in January and following this appeal we received information which directly led us to identify Brady and arrest him for this offence.
"I believe by using both the local and national media to appeal for information demonstrates our commitment to solving crimes in east Surrey and sends out a clear message to criminals that we will relentlessly pursue them.
"I would like to thank the press and all those who helped put this man behind bars for some time and hope the sentence passed will go some way to allow the victims to move on with their lives.
Brady was sentenced on December 4.
