You must be living in a parallel universe.Chelseablue wrote:All out soon I thinks
The societies of consumption and squandering of material resources are incompatible with the idea of economic growth and a clean planet.

Re: WHAT ARE UNION HQ AGREEING TO
Quite a few postings mentioning lapsing already. We still have our leave block in place (meaning we have spare staff, apart from ironically the Unit Rep! And people wonder why no one has any confidence in the Union
) I take it these DOs must have been understaffed to start with if they're lapsing already?

I'm staggered that there are still people that can't understand this conceptSurreypostie wrote:Exactly, RM can lapse what they like, if you have time do it, we had lapsing saturday, didn't do it and didn't complete our walks either, no lapsing yesterday and cut off, today we completed but had no time for lapsing. Think the managers took it out, start on time, have your breaks, work your contracted hours.

Exactly, you can't lapse if your own duty fills all your hours.redandblue wrote:I'm staggered that there are still people that can't understand this conceptSurreypostie wrote:Exactly, RM can lapse what they like, if you have time do it, we had lapsing saturday, didn't do it and didn't complete our walks either, no lapsing yesterday and cut off, today we completed but had no time for lapsing. Re: WHAT ARE UNION HQ AGREEING TO
If all of the workers in each unit stuck to that principle then there would be no lapsing. Problem is the majority are happy to extend to complete the lapsing as they need the money. The minority who do not wish to extend are then left to the bullying, harassment, intimidation that sadly is a part of every day life at Royal Mail if you are not prepared to complete.

The fools that make me laugh are the people who start early, unpaid, have no breaks and then cut off as they refuse to work past their finish time. I do seriously wonder about the sanity of some people.
I don't actually care who claims overtime to complete or do lapsing or whatever, at least they are being paid to do it.

That's too sensible m8.Darren Bent wrote:Royal Mail is looking to save money for short term. It is time for Royal Mail to think long term and sustainability business.
1. all the longer walk will cost Royal Mail money
- More sick pay from injuries
- More ill health retirement from injuries
- Postal worker live longer due to increased fitness costing more pension.
Royal Mail need to look at white collars and managers for cut not postal workers. Also it need to offer something for customer to collect parcels without us attempting delivery. I would like to see more tracked mail and less recorded delivery.

Re: WHAT ARE UNION HQ AGREEING TO
We've been issued our new lapsing ....-2 thick with ice and the lapsing we've been given is a killer (as far as lapsing goes) and its at the end of the town ...and our deliveries are probably the most furthest point away ...we didn't lapse on NYE day as we were absolutely battered in our office.. Up there with the worst few days over the xmas period ....then had to put up with snide comments from the linos and lies about how much mail had come into the office .....our DOM said "I've only counted 75,000 items come through our doors today which was a blatant lie....I have a a problem with being treated like a total fuckwit by the linos and Dom it's degrading to say the least
We currently have 1 Lino who's never done the job and has come straight from university, another lino who couldn't do the job >at all< and constantly went sick and broke into tears at the slightest hint of a busy day...and after speaking to many people ...it turns out our Dom was pretty lax in plying his trade
Gone are the days when the union fought for the workers...they are now...and have been for a long time working hand In hand alongside RM top brass and are jointly shafting us

half year targets hit profits up half yearly shares on the rise why the doom and gloomtwincamms wrote:Royal Mail and the CWU 2015.
Personally I've got a view on this, you may not agree but I'd be interested in your opinions.
RM to continue performing poorly, missing targets and blaming the USO and Ofcom for not letting us compete fairly.
RM to continue to harass and aggressively manage staff, seeking more resignations and IHR. Industrial Relations to hit rock bottom and staff morale non existent.
If Conservative win the election they will offload the remaining 30% stake the Government hold in RM.
Once sold, RM performance drops devaluing the share price further.
At this point RM will look like a very lucrative purchase to one of the bigger players ( I'm putting my money on Amazon ) and they will go for an aggressive takeover and acquisition of RM and it's network.
CWU strength weakened to levels considerably lower than they are now, a decline in membership and possible strike action called for this year, giving RM the right to tear up the previous until 2018 agreement.
Existing management will be culled, current OPG contracts shredded and new terms imposed.
New owner runs the business on Part Time, Zero Hour, Minimum Wage terms.
A gloomy prophecy but one I believe may happen............................
