Limited postal service across Derbyshire because of weather

ROYAL Mail has said there will be "limited deliveries" in parts of Derbyshire today because of ice and frost.

It has said there will be "some deliveries" in Derby, Ashbourne, Alfreton, Hatton and Swadlincote but that "this is dependent upon conditions under foot because of problems with snow melting and freezing".

Other areas affected include Matlock, Bakewell, Belper, Ripley and Ilkeston.

A Royal Mail spokeswoman said there was also disruption to deliveries on Saturday, because of the heavy snowfall on Boxing Day.

She said: "We apologise to our customers for the inconvenience. There will be limited deliveries again today given the ice and frost.

"We are working hard to deliver as many items as we can as long as it is safe to do so, but this will be dependent on local conditions.”

Tracked and special delivery items will be prioritised.
