Everyone in my DO is constantly moaning about the job, but none of the muppets will admit that they're the architects of their own misfortune by not just refusing to do the job properly, but also taking the piss out of those of us who do for being "slow"Dorset Plodder wrote:Each DO has a few Posties who do Work Properly, and I believe they probably get more than their fair share of crap, but it really needs the majority of the DO to stick together and say, "We're understaffed, The Duties need Re-Testing, we haven't got the time to Lapse, Absorb etc"!![]()

Re: Do you think working for RM kills the joy of Christmas
Royal Mail deliberately goes out of its way to make Christmas as horrendous for delivery staff, as it possibly can.
Door-to-dustbins every week, including the week beginning 22nd December which has two fewer days for us to litter customers doormats.
Lapsing whenever there appears to be a couple of packets less than expected.
The unreal expectation that however ridiculous the amount of work, and despite the complete lack of preperation by management for what is always without fail a very busy time of year, and despite after savage rounds of cuts which has seen staff and duties decimated, they expect people to flog themselves working to silly-o'clock every single day.
Working for these bastards leading up to Christmas is the most unpleasant experience imaginable.
As for making us come in on the Saturday after boxing day, well, did we really expect any different from the c***s, did we?

Re: Do you think working for RM kills the joy of Christmas
You may get your wish because in the New Year there is a union meeting for a new delivery strategy I believe - however I'm pretty sure it won't be for lighter work and a rejuvenated workforceDorset Plodder wrote:We've been working under this "Constant Pressure Delivery System" for quite a while now. Depending on your DO I suppose some have for several years. It's NOT Healthy and I suppose we all just have to get the message and Start Working Properly, I'd like to think the CWU would start a new campaign in the New Year but I doubt it.

I would say they have charged extra or used this as a bargaining tool in some small way to win advertising contracts in the first instance.krussel wrote:I wonder if RM has charged extra for this serviceChelseablue wrote:It's the door to door bit that annoys a lot of us . Why bother at all when we've only three days to do them , it's like there sayin let's p iss em off right till the end . There is absolutely no need in any of this rubbish on this week , every office shud just refuse to do em next week . Well done in boosting moral moya .

Not necessarily Krussel we've had a couple of revisions but still have a night shift for the pressure fortnight, I think there was about 8 this year plus 6 extra packet vans leaving the yard at 0700 so 14 extra which due to no holidays is about right.krussel wrote:glass joe wrote:Wouldn't like to work in your offices, i dont mind xmas, its been pretty easy compared to last year, night staff and people coming in early in over time. i took home 800 odd on friday, no social life thou lol

So it was in England but before my time of 25 years but those with longer service than me could remember it. They stopped in 1960 in England and 1965 in Scotland.Izzy wrote:My Mum can remember when Christmas day in Scotland was an ordinary day. The postie delivered as normal.

Re: Do you think working for RM kills the joy of Christmas
Our management abandoned the night shift in my office for the first time ever because, "We don't need it"
We're on IPS until 0930, and leaving the office to go on delivery between 10.45 and 11.30 The DOM can't understand why so many people are submitting their deliveries for cut-offs.

Re: Do you think working for RM kills the joy of Christmas
On our P&L we try to get all our D2D's delivered by thursday. That cannot happen this week and I'm not wasting time going to houses xmas eve just with a D2D so they will have to be finished saturday. That should take care of the lapsing. I can see us having very pissed off gaffers on saturday morning, going out delivering the walks that are being lapsed as nobody will do OT that day.
