A myriad of problems with that.

Royal Mail cannot concern itself with the political beliefs of its employees, to do so may in fact be illegal, not to mention immoral. As we are meant to be living in a Democracy individuals are allowed certain rights, and the right to congregate and protest is one of them. Also despite personally detesting all that Britain First stands for, and hating how its using Forces Veterans to promote its hatred, more so because I am a veteran, yet I will still defend anyones right to protest as long as its legal, peaceful and respectful to the location its taking place in.

The really frightening thing about allowing Royal Mail to even just comment on its employees right to protest would be a bit too far for this leftie, that wouldn't be one step to a corporatocracy that would be a giant leap and final confirmation it had happened.

The final flaw in your argument is that Royal Mail did not refuse to deliver the leaflets based on a political decision, but a legal one. Their own lawyers believed that the Britain First leaflet in question promoted hatred, and that delivery of the leaflet could leave both Royal Mail and its employees open to prosecution.
highbury67 wrote:Maybe so, but RM has a large Asian community in its offices and it is failing them by its stance on marches.
Royal Mail has no stance on marches either pro or anti it leaves attendance on those marches up to the individuals themselves.

Even if they could Royal Mail would have to be impartial and a Ban on employees attending Britain First Marches would have to be extended to the other end of the spectrum and ban attendance at Hope not Hate marches, and anything in between.
highbury67 wrote:If it has no objection to marches,
It didn't - it had a legal objection to 1 leaflet.
highbury67 wrote: it should have kept its mouth shut and either consulted an independent body or let the public decide.
As the objection was to the contents of 1 election leaflet which in itself was not connected with any march, I miss the point you're making here. RM judged the leaflet illegal, and even said why, therefore it couldn't let the public decide as it would have to deliver it to allow that to happen, and the actual distribution itself of the leaflet if they are right was also illegal.
highbury67 wrote:I am not sure even if its whether they can stop such marches,
They can't. Everyone has the right to Free Speech, freedom of association and freedom to protest as long as doing so does not breach any laws. If you have commented at cross purposes and mean the leaflet, then yes they can as it was illegal in their judgement.
highbury67 wrote: its top level being out of touch too imo. They do not relate to our world, they have never been in it. Yét they make decisions on our lives! It beggars belief.
I agree with you there, but I still don't see the relevance for this particular subject, be it leaflets or marches.

I too am a veteran and I love the word corporatocracy, if there is such a word - either way I am going to use that word again and again ---Oh and I have no idea who Britain First is. Only those enamoured with such things either for or against would make it their business. Minor factions such as I take it this one is pose no real threat - however in light of recent events in Australia and Pakistan there are more obvious threats we should be concerning ourselves with.

We're nearly there as it is.
Global Corporations back Governments the World over, in exchange for, shall we say certain "allowances" to be made on their behalf. You've only got to look at what's happened over the past few years to see that certain Corporations can manipulate the law to their own advantages and they get away with it. They threaten to "up sticks" and move to another country and get the breaks they want there. On top of that they "walk hand in hand" with certain people within the corridors of power the World over. They've even put people into power and more or less tell those at the top what to do. A prime example is oil and the Bush administration in the USA, take your pick over what one you like. Haliburton had a massive say in those and we know what happened with them.

Democracy is in danger of being a sham, or so it would seem. Your vote for the party/Government of your choice at an election is based on what choices you've been given and by dint of that you've put Corporatocracies into power, as they're pulling the strings behind the scenes.

God help us all if people like those in Britain First, or any party of that ilk gets into power. You'll be back to the days of the 1930's and beer-hall putsches and then you'll see the true colour of these people.

Globalisation as I have posted before the rich will get richer the poor will be poorer and everyone in the world wants your job and will do it for less.
