Let me give you a scenario.............

Post by freespeech »

CWU and RM get close to a deal on Thurs PM or Fri AM but keep it quiet as they don't know how the front line will take it. To give time for the Exec to go through the detail CWU want weekend/Mon to consider. RM concerned that IA will go ahead on Mon which will further damage the business. I know, why don't we find a problem with the notification. Yes, this will stop the lawful IA Mon/Tue and look as if RM are happy and a few extra days for exec to mull things over.

Are you seriously telling me that the CWU made a "mistake" in the notifications when they had previously notified rolling action with the same groups?

Are you seriously telling me that the Exec aren't getting the details until Mon? I suggest they have the fine print now and are going through every word and considering how to present them to the front line.

Have to agree, there is no reason why a meeting cannot be held over the weekend,we are the ones losing money through these strikes so we have a right to know what is going on.

 It is natural & human to feel let down by the leaders of our Union ..... BUT we must give them the chance to explain all on Monday night. Thanx again to 'Lovejoy' for his 'bang on' info. On occasions ..... I too feel like having a rest from being a rep ..... but being one of life's heroes ..... I shall soldier on. Also nobody else at my unit will take it on! Double also ..... I have been married a few times & therefore ..... feel absolutely no pain ..... whatsoever!

I suppose its what you term defeat as.

with 130,000 members you will never get a deal that pleases all.

One thing I do know is Leighton and Crozier set out to destroy us and we've stood strong and ruined their union crushing CVs.

The main thing is that whatever happens WE took on the Government, Businesses and two of the biggest bullies ever in British industry and we're still here fighting!

I'd give it a couple of months and Leighton and Crozier will be gone. They won't go yet because it will be obvious why but their days are numbered. Just look at Croziers body language in recent interviews. Leighton is nowhere to be seen. We taught them they're not in ASDA anymore!!!

There is nothing better in life than knowing you've stood shoulder to shoulder with your colleagues and stopped what would have been the end of our industry.

so I say whatever comes Monday will not please everyone and never will. But i'm proud and I think we all should be
Yes big thank you to Lovejoy for the info. We should all be proud of taking a stand against the brothers grim. I don`t think they were prepared for the strength of feeling and the massive support these strikes had.
As for the deal, I`d hope the pensions will be de-coupled from all the other things.
As for flexibility it seems the most RM got was half an hour variation. I can live with that (in the name of compromise) although concerns me that could be the beginnings of a slippery slope.
Pay is reasonable deal I think. Originally it was going to be a pay freeze and a couple of hundred quid lump sum, which then became 2.5%. Even without back pay (though there`s a £175 lump sum?) the 6.9% is a better deal long term.
As for D2D I believe they should have put a fixed payment into delivery wages and scrapped the system of filling in a docket every week for it.

They talk about saving money but we al know of many ways that they have squandered this over the years. I`m sure they could have changed the allocation of overtime in some offices. Mine for example (RDC). You put down for o/t 2 weeks in advance-crazy. When I worked in a mail centre they`d come round to you (night shift) and ask if you wanted to stay on. There have people coming in for years (on a monday in particular) only to find no work to do. Weekends have become job & knock. If they get done by 1pm they`ll get paid an extra 2 or 3 hours-Even though some of that work is in fact mondays work! Then in come the overtimers on monday to nothing!! Crazy.

That would be good if its right about them only getting 1 thing on the flexibility thing, as in change time half hour here and there, that wud be ok as long as we still have our duties and not messed about.
