Since the revision began at our office a couple of part timers have been working over our contracted hours. I know the most senior part time has in the past put in a grievance but to no avail. At one point was even promised to be made full time but not in the end.

Like I said our rep is useless and only seems to agree with the managers or anything in his interests.

The way I see it is that the couple of part timers who started working full time hours got the revision to where it is now. If we all started at our contracted hours I think our office would be more than a mess than it is now, with fewer staff due to VR's and more to come next yr. This along with the management introducing more savings next yr.

Someone working SA may or may not be entitled to take a break - it would depend on the circumstances.
If you were doing a collection on SA you couldn't decide you wanted a 20 minute break and fail the collection times. (Well you could but there would be consequences)
Someone working their day off on SA could take an unpaid break as long as it didn't interfere with the smooth running of the operation.

But the agreement as Teebs has posted it says They (SA) do not attract paid meal relief's or breaks.
So you don't have a right to a break.

But this is all off topic and has nothing to do with the original question.
But you DO have a right to a break. By law! Just that it will be unpaid. Not you are not allowed a break at all.

Unless working more than 9hrs that day (probable at this time of yr), in which case it is 50 mins ,up until 11hr 59mins when it goes to 1hr meal relief. Not too many people know of this.

Your completely wrong everyone is entitled to a break at work in line with the rules laid down with the working time directive it matters not a thing whether it affects the smooth running of the operation at all. There would be no consequences for taking a break that you were legally entitled to even if it was on a collection. Breaks should be built into the duty whether paid or not if not then it's the managers fault for not building them in and the reps fault for not insisting he did

Just on a side note, If the OP has been doing regular OT he he should be able to claim for unpaid holiday pay according to this BBC report last month: http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/business-29896810" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
