1. What is your delivery office strategy? they know theres too much work and hope people stay out an extend, which most people nowadays dont want to due to the strain the delivery length takes physically.
2. How have you been informed to work during Christmas Pressure? there was no original plan, but now as more walks get cut off the managers are telling people to just try and get tracked done and leave the other packets.
3. What 'Best practice' methods are you applying for the Christmas pressure? im not really sure what that means, we just tell manager if we dont think we`ll finish and let them sort it
4. How are you being advised on daily volumes ? we get no official information

Moyas Message
Our delivery staff has made this another wonderful Christmas for our customers, and I would like to thank you immensely for all your efforts.
Now you lazy bstrds. Christmas is out the way. Lapsing will continue and increase post haste and another 3000 of you lucky people will be leaving the company.
I have had a superb time in Canada over the holidays with my new hubby and I have now returned to the helm to make sure that I can top up both my own bank account with those lovely bonuses you work so hard to get me, and to make sure my under managers keep a tight reign on things I will give them a little hand out again later in the year.
Now get grafting and if your lucky, you will still be fit enough to reach Easter.

This is one of the best topic or thread on here...
Christmas strategy - what is that? Bah Humbug for asking.
We have these busiest and most profitable one month in a year and yet the managers that are paid to manage do virtually nothing - all they do is 'wing it' and hope the posties show goodwill and willingness to get through the difficult period.
Apart from the labour resources which is not easy at best, they could not even plan for the needed equipment and transportation.
We do not have enough PDAs, so some posties are sharing PDAs at a time when they find themselves with a full York of tracked items only (&Signed For and Parcels). And the frequent complaints about faulty batteries and PDAs were not resolved before Xmas. This is so tragic!
How can we really compete with the calibre of managers we have?
* In addition, vans were not hired on time - so packet delivery became difficult as folks have to finish shift by 3pm before volunteers (a couple) might go out in the dark to deliver some parcels.
** Vacancies were not filled and having to borrow from other offices and train the loanee during the busy period - meaning we are even more short on staff during the training.
*** Many other things to mention a regards IPS/Parcel sorting, double prepping, some getting easy and dodgy OT whilst some getting none and so on...

its funny the same old problems turn up again and again in offices up and down the country. This speaks to the issues not being local issues but a fundamental mismanagement at the higher levels to not put a strategy in place.

Indeed - It's a poor show and shows just how blind sided RM execs are from the workplace.
There needs to be a bit of 'undercover boss' / 'Back to the floor' going on. - From behind the spreadsheets and tick boxes, they just see it as arsey/lazy/cynical OPG's. -
p.s 25 full yorks of overweights in the D.O today not gone out yet.

"Our performance remains in line with our expectations for the full year. But, as always, this depends on us delivering another great Christmas, for which we are fully prepared." Commented Moya Greene, Chief Executive Officer.

We've only managed to get through the past couple of Xmas's because the weather has been kind to us. Bit of snow this year and watch it all go tits up
So keep on moving, moving, moving your feet
Keep on shuf-shuf-shuffling to this ghost dance beat
Just keep on walking down never ending streets
Illegitimi non carborundum

i wrote to Moya sometime ago, challenging her to spend time in a D.O. Funnily enough the issue was avoided, can't be seen fraternising with the great unwashed. Dear god ,no.

Can't be arsed with the company now , just in it for the wages BUT the real christmas rush hasn't happened yet, it's only the 6th and already we're failing miserably, having to complete and claim every day while the brown nosers with the small duties get all the extra packet runs.raikky wrote:I can be the first to critize royalmail but our xmas is going fine so far

Pda's are now being rationed !! they just don't last past dinner time and our customers think we're a joke.
Hermes is megabusy in this area and taking all our christmas tips because they are so efficient with packets.
Our leavers , retireds and bereaved havn't been replaced and yet THE MANY MANAGERS STILL DO NOTHING between 9 and 2 !! - r.i.p rm soon.
Why are lino's paid full-time ??

1. Go in early I think (see below).
2. Meeting held before my start time, so guesswork and mind reading.
3. Say what?
4. I just go in through the door and there it all is. There may be a printout somewhere on a wall, but never been told where, what the figures mean and don't want to know as it will be all lies anyway.

I find it even more intriguing that the CWU who all year have inundated us with non understandable joint agreements, suddenly have nothing to say about the most important time of the year. CWU if you are listening, where are all the fcking extra vans we need, and extra leg power to shift all this sh.t. I suppose Dave Ward and his crew have already CUT OFF for Christmas.

Our Office strategy ,I believe is 1 of the best we have seen for years, and focuses around 2 key main points of a superb master plan .
I am not sure I should leak this plan as it is so amazing ,the managers deserve a award for dreaming it up .
2 Main points to clearing Christmas pressure.
The first point is just brilliant, Close your eyes and hopes it goes away !
2nd point ,not so clever ,hope and pray as many staff stay as possible stay out and clear their walks !
Seen many Christmases at RM but in only the first week of Dec, never seen so much chaos.
Staff morale is rock bottom, to such a extent it is on a minus level .
Never seen so many walks fail packets not being cleared, callers is under staffed, Managers not seen for days.!
