Wrong question obviously, now if they said how many pies on a tray in Greggs, well no brainer really.ldsposti wrote:A question from the panel to Moya was would removing the Saturday delivery be any benefit to Royal Mail, Her answer was No so what are they planning ?. oh and our leader Billy Hayes was asked how many staff are members of the CWU he could not answer !!!!!!!!!! I watched all of it and my opinion they were all hold back on the truth but the panel are not letting them get away with it they have to produce facts and figures now![]()

There are a lot of very naive people on here if they think that Nick Wells of whistl came across as the ''baddie'' in this debate... all his talk of ''lowering cost bases'' etc would have been music to the ears of the politicians.

In terms of investor relations Moya Greene is becoming toxic. Looking ahead to the next pay deal I don't think there will be any 9% over 3 years on the table, more likely 3% over 9 years.

he was all about driving down terms and conditions, what mp is going to stand with him, not the lady from Glasgow north, who tried to get him to answer on several occasions, only the tory ones... no change there then!!!!

Re: moya on bbc parliment
Royal Mail would love to get rid of the USO but if they had their own way then WHO is going to deliver to the rural areas??
Moya is right to tell MPs about her concerns over the blatant cherry picking by TNT as it WILL affect us all in the future. But will it fall on deaf ears because Royal Mail is now privatised?
Clowns like Vince Cable for example, who sold off the Royal Mail, are now absolving all responsibility for it describing moya's comments as 'scaremongering'. Even Ofcom have yet to be convinced that the USO is under threat and yet it must be maintained until 2021!!
I think that there should be tougher regulatory controls on our competitors NOW - especially TNT (a foreign company) who have already outlined their proposals to expand their network albeit only in the profitable urban areas. At the very least we should be charging a lot more for delivering the letters and parcels our commercial competitors hand on because they are in the remoter areas.
Saying that, It would not surprise me that the 'one price goes anyway' in the UK won't be sustainable. And there will be a two tier postal service - one for urban and one for the remoter rural areas

On the face of it, shareholder value is the dumbest idea in the world.

If anyone of these people were your lawyer solicitor you would fire them for not making the case against the other side but we all know the UK government shot us all in the foot and themselves. The French did not nor has Italy and Spain go for broke with a free market so think who you all vote for in six months!

The government has guaranteed that the universal service will continue at least until 2021.halfull wrote:i fear for non drivers once the uso goes, which i think it will within 5 years or so.

Well Moya and her acolytes were all for privatisation, they could hardly wait. I think you are right ,the USO will go,no matter what they claim, and price by distance will be the first step..postslippete wrote:Royal Mail would love to get rid of the USO but if they had their own way then WHO is going to deliver to the rural areas??

This government,or the leader thereof, also gave a "cast iron guarantee" of a vote on a matter concerning Europe. I wouldn't trust any of them to sit the right way round on the toilet.Bahia Feliz wrote:The government has guaranteed that the universal service will continue at least until 2021.halfull wrote:i fear for non drivers once the uso goes, which i think it will within 5 years or so.

Re: moya on bbc parliment
Well when Moya persuades the Government of the day that the USO is financially unsustainable and that they are going to have to pay to sustain it just how cast iron does anyone think it is? If they sustain the USO something has to give sooner or later. Lets just think that the rural areas would get alternate days delivery and urban areas 6 days but still keep the price the same. That could work for a period of time until they kick it into touch.rubberbond wrote:This government,or the leader thereof, also gave a "cast iron guarantee" of a vote on a matter concerning Europe. Why would they stop there in the first instance best practice and all that I can see two walks a week being done by one pair or solo.dvbuk55 wrote:Well when Moya persuades the Government of the day that the USO is financially unsustainable and that they are going to have to pay to sustain it just how cast iron does anyone think it is?
