If it's not a silly question why wouldn't you want to work at the other office if it's only 1 mile from home rather than traveling 6 miles to your present office? Especially as it sounds like they're short staffed so there could be a chance of a permanent transfer to it?

They cant match my hours and I can do IPS and collections in my own office which gives overtime opportunity.

There is more to this situation.

My DO has a twin office which shares our DOM. A fellow Postman got into a fight, kept his job and can now only work in my DO. So basically we have a spare body and as he is more senior to me it seem I am getting sent here there and everywhere so his nose doesnt get put out of joint, or anyone elses.

I am not just getting sent to the DO on my door step, it is several within the region.

The DOM puts the question to you as if its your choice to go, "can you go?". If he simply said your going its in your contract then this wouldnt be an issue.

Sounds like you have a half decent DOM then. My feeling is he is posing it as a can you? just in case you have a commitment outside work that would preclude you working over or going to the other offices. Although he is asking, really he is instructing you in the nicest way possible.
