Dear Matlock Mercury, might I interest you in a piece about revised collection times from the post box at Matlock Green?

This is the text of a complaint submitted today to Royal Mail: I object to the new collection times from the postbox at Matlock Green. A Monday to Friday collection at 9am and a Saturday collection at 7am are outrageous! Effectively these times mean that any mail posted at reasonable times during the day will sit in the box overnight and will suffer a day’s delay. This postbox has been in use for over one hundred years and in that time there can never have been such an abysmal service.

It does make you wonder about security of mail when it is sat in mailboxes in rural locations overnight and all week end.

It's 2014 - This is the way forward.

Alternatively, you can hold onto your mail and hand deliver it to your postman when he delivers your daily mail after 2pm. Times may vary dependent on his DTN & lapsing volume

I think it's so that many punters will see that they've missed the last collection for the day and so not use that box, but take it to a different main one with a later collection (or even give it to a postie - that's allowed now!).

This means most of these boxes will almost always have practically nothing in them so management can say that when it does come in, the collections on delivery are going to be simple - it's only a quick grab and scan of a handful of letters at most and usually an empty box.

Front end pull, with back end bogey wheels to assist tight cornering. Back end push (good luck). Middle position, push me/pull me with an option to change the heaviest unit in either direction.
