Moya Greene Crowned At National Business Awards

Other well-known companies, including Ikea and ITV, emerge with prizes from the 2014 National Business Awards.v

Moya Greene's leadership during the controversial flotation of the Royal Mail was praised by judges at the National Business Awards.

The 350-year-old organisation listed on the London Stock Exchange in October 2013, making it the biggest privatisation in 30 years.

Ms Greene has returned the company to profit since she took the helm in 2010.


ITV won FTSE 100 Business of the Year. The prize was collected by Adam Crozier, Moya Greene's predecessor at Royal Mail.

Swedish home furnishing store IKEA won the Sustainable Business Award.


Former chief executive of Sainsbury's, Justin King, was awarded The Daily Telegraph Award for a Decade of Excellence in Business, for delivering 34 quarters of consistent growth.

Dermot Murnaghan presented the National Business Awards, for which Sky News is the media partner.

Prime Minister David Cameron gave a message to the 1,200 attendees at the awards ceremony at the Grosvenor House Hotel in London.

He said: "You're helping society... by making your businesses sustainable; and helping making everyone's day a little better - by putting customer service at the forefront of what you do

When I joined Royal Mail, I used to say that our technology was state-of-the-ark. Our business suffered significantly from years of under investment in this and other areas.

So one of the most important things we must do is overhaul our IT infrastructure. But, we have a lot to do and not much time.

I still cant see what Moya Greene has actually done. All the policies to change Royal Mail were in place before she arrived. She hasn't made any decisions herself, they've were all made for her. The Government still controls Royal Mail although it was privatised, which is probably a good thing. Her only moves have been not to pay the phantom share £1000 and to get rid of 3600 managers, in how many years. Id like to see those few manager bullies who are still around chased out, and some more training and information about the job. There have been so many changes Im not really confident about what Im doing any more. Also a lot of the properties are f****d, leaking roofs, busted toilets, broken fittings.
