Royal Mail going to let TNT access it's redirection service.

Was told today in WTL that we our going to let TNT access our redirection data. So they can reduce their own miss deliveries.
Dom thinks this is a good idea as it will reduce complaints RM get from customers about mail still going to old address. Says it cost RM every time TNT delivery mail to old address and RM get the blame.

To me seems RM keep on bending over backwards for TNT. they want to delivery the final mile why help them.

Shouldn't RM be trying to win contracts back of TNT. Let TNT carry on mis delivering then these contracts might come back.

Is RM going to charge for this service? How is it going to work exactly,with regards to Data Protection amongst other matters. Why don't we deliver the mail for them as well, oh wait,we tried that ,look where that got us. Incredulous it really is.

This was announced a while ago to the staff at the Redirection Centre; only in the NW and HA postcodes currently, but if it works then they'll be extending it. They have their own little stickers to use and apparently they are paying a lot of money for access - and for our Customer Service to handle any complaints that come up.

Isn't it just dandy when Whistl and all and sundry can use Royal Mail staff to do their work whilst RM foot the bill. I'd wager what they are paying is nothing like what it would cost to run their own network. Look at deliveries for example they cherry pick the lucrative areas and let RM do the expensive stuff, like the CWU it's time RM said NO.

Why doesn't Moya tell them to bog off, if customers had to pay twice for their redirection that would cause them to complain possibly to there bank and it might end up with RM winning some customers back and TNT or who cares what they are called losing some business.

I wouldn't say they're scared of TNT but I definitely think there's some hidden agenda... whilst Royal Mail may say they're opposed to the competitive threat that TNT pose the reality is that they are doing their best to accommodate them and strengthen TNT's position in the sector.

Seems strange how Royal Mails legal eagles are so ruthless, efficient and effective when it comes to outmaneuvering and outwitting the CWU at every turn... yet they appear to be so weak and impotent when it comes to dealing with the so called 'competition'

Many years ago whilst working in the callers office as a newbie I was paid a visit by the police trying to find a local scalywag and asking if we had any information as regards a redirection of mail for Mr x from xyz address as they had lost him. Passing the request to my DOM the rozzers where informed that RM was unable to help them without a court order under the DPA.

I wonder if this has anything to do with the roll out of the new Redirection spreadsheet that has come out this week.

The person responsible for the office re-di's has to input every single redi, the name, address, ref number, exp date and then update it each day - nobody really knows the reasons behind it and nobody knows where the time is coming from to initially get all the existing redis into it (our office has around 1200 at any one time).

Seems a daft idea but the TNT thing might explain it - maybe easier to share the data.

The obvious answer is to drive down conditions. A cheap, compliant, and disposable workforce will unleash mega-profits.
