Plaque to be unveiled to remember Exeter's postal workers who died in WW1

A plaque remembering Exeter postal workers who died during the First World War is to be unveiled in the city later this month.

The plaque, made by local sculptor John Patterson, will be unveiled at the Royal Mail delivery office, Summerland Gate, Belgrave Road, Exeter, EX1 2AA at 11am on November 28.

Funded by Devon County Council, under the Devon Remembers Memorial Restoration Fund, and the CWU union, it replaces the original plaque that was destroyed along with the Post Office building during the Blitz in the Second World War.

CWU rep Darren Rowbotham said: "As a local rep, I have played a big part in this tribute for the fallen postal staff and their families, and wanted to give something back to the community."
