Re: Resigning while of sick?
Why should you have to look for another job? Maybe the work load on your current job is actually too much? Sounds more like they want the easy way out. Get H&S involved, risk assessments and what not surely have to be done?

On the letters side we have an "Ill Health Retirement" agreement - check with your PFWW reps and see if you can go down that route.

Re: Resigning while of sick?
Hi, there is ill health retirement. The only way this will happen is if you go through the EHS. To do this you will have to speak to your line manager and ask to be referred to the EHS I would ask for a face to face assessment rather than a phone consultation. Its only when they have gone through the assessment process, they may ask for permission to see your relevant doctors/specialist notes, they may make the recommendation that you should be considered for ill health retirement if they do you will be offered a payment based on the length of service and lieu of notice. Your line manager should be able to explain this to you in more detail or contact your local rep.Hope this rough overview helps in making your decision of what to do.

Re: Resigning while of sick?
With regards to IHR,I have osteoarthritis in both my knees and hips and require bilateral knee replacements.I have just been medically retired through IHR and when EHS had reviewed my medical records they said they would only consider me for IHR after the rehab from my FIRST operation which would have bee late 2016,by which time I would have exhausted my sick pay.I contacted my union rep and within days it was sorted in my favour.Having now officially retired from a job I loved I am still a member of the union albeit a retired member,I cannot thank the union or praise them enough for without their help and advice I would probably have been dismissed as unfit for work with just the basic notice.
