I have just been to a meeting and i am hearing the same thing, the strings have been removed, but the CWU still want a massive yes vote, apparently the CWU have shown the goverment a business plan and they are saying there is something in it, a massive yes vote will make alistair darling put pressure on leighton and crozier.
also this video thats flying around, when they show you it ask them why the guy who's in it Tom Melvin is leaving the business.

Good point sidey,as far as i'm aware our(SE London) ballot is STILL going ahead regardless, because of the exec action!
I Wrote-During Covid-Which is still relevant now
It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.

probably a daft question , but reading through the posts , i see changes happening in offices all over , from geo route or pegasus! to later strarts to full timers cut to part time.
what i am asking is , with these things already in place what happens if theres a big strike , or royal mail back down and give us our demands? do my hours stay as they are? will joe bloggs who was f/t and moved to part time be moved back?
will the pegasus and neo wotever be banished forever?
i am so concerned that with the later starts coming in , my wife willl have to pack in work as we have no cover in the school holidays! :Confused

Postal workers have no choice but to vote yes
From this weeks Socialist - weekly paper of the Socialist Party
Vote 'yes' for strike action
POSTAL WORKERS are being balloted for industrial action for the first time since a ballot defeat three and a half years ago.
Over that last three years we have seen over 30,000 jobs losses. This has put a greater workload onto postal workers. But it's clear this is not enough for Royal Mail management, during the latest negotiations they stated that postal workers are unproductive and overpaid!
Their latest "full and final offer" is 2.5% or a one-off payment of £600, across all grades except admin grades, who have no offer at all.
There are massive strings attached. We must accept a savings package of £360 million. This will be made up by removing all nightshifts from delivery offices. It includes a "review" of the weekend operation in the mail centres, in other words the ending of weekend working and the job losses that go with it.
They also want a major reduction in staffing during the summer. Where we have six staff there will only be five. Staff will have to absorb all short-term sick absences without any pay where at present we get paid overtime.
Also proposed is a change of start times to after 6am, so postal workers will lose a shift allowance of £12 a week.
They also want "flexibility", in other words be prepared to do anything they want and allow the casualisation of the industry. Their new productivity scheme means, if an office can save any money over the Royal Mail budget, the members can receive a 50% share.
Royal Mail chairman Alan Leighton has written to all workers stating that there is no more money and his senior managers have agreed a pay freeze. That is quite easy if you are on £100,000s a year, or your name is Adam Crozier (chief executive), whose earnings last year were over £1,000,000.
Over the last two years his bonuses alone totalled £2.8 million, compared to a postal worker's basic pay of £16,500 a year.
It's clear that the union must fight for an above-inflation pay rise with no strings as a step to get us to the average wage. We are in the bottom 25% of earners in Britain but Royal Mail still believe we are overpaid.
We are facing a dispute not only over pay but over the future of our industry. If Royal Mail get away with their business plan it will mean over 40,000 job losses, attacks on our pension, closures of mail centres and delivery offices and a wage cut in real terms.
Over the last few weeks Royal Mail have been forced to change their offer. This has been because they know that the mood is completely different to the last ballot. This is shown by the number of unofficial disputes up and down the country, where postal workers are saying loud and clear that they will not take any more attacks. This mood must now be harnessed by our national leadership for a massive 'yes' vote.
The ballot timetable is: ballot papers dispatched 22 May, result announced 7 June.

Just had preview of Crozier DVD/video for next week (thanks to concerned Manager) unlike the man in pink shirt[Bullshit et al] Adam is STILL telling 'our people' that the Unions claim is for 27% and is 'unrealistic'- this from the man who two weeks ago said that OPG's were 25% overpaid and 40% underworked. I'm glad that the highest-paid CIVIL SERVANT in the Country has such a good grasp on figures........mind you anyone with so many zeroes on his Bonus payment can be forgiven foe mis-placing a decimal point or two. Obviously the agreement he's choosing to ignore from last year didn't mention £400 per week as an aspiration for ACCEPTING change............Let's impose it instead..........'OUR PEOPLE' WON'T MIND...........FAT CHANCE pad

Luckily, the plasma screens at Bristol Mail Centre didnt work!
A handful of people were shown a video on the afternoon shift, but management gave up when they realized they were flogging a dead horse.
The next day (wednesday 23rd May) on the early shift, the mail centre manager told people that they were not allowed to wear this badge

A statement printed off by CWU HQ read that the badge was not political or was it an incitement to strike but a personal opinion.
Dopey looking mail centre manager ran back to his hidey hole with tail between his legs.

If we were in America they would not get away with this. Only allowing one point of view to be aired and stopping any other opion being voiced. In fact it sounds like the NAZI party in the early to mid 30s when the only opinion that mattered was the leaders.
Where is the entitlement to FREE SPEECH that many servicemen and ex service men stand proud for. Sorry bit jingoistic but that's how I feel.
