Just scroll down to the Culling = Arguments thread because that is what you are going to be up against

Im not against anyone trying to better themselves. Im just surmising that management is a lot more stress than it used to be. It used to be quite a cushy number; but now the company is privatised they are accountable for everything. I think you've got to WANT to be a manager though, not do it, because its more money or because someone else is doing it
On the face of it, shareholder value is the dumbest idea in the world.

Respect is a two way thing, you have to give some to warrant getting some back. As someone on here mentioned you have to pay your mortgage etc and unless the negative ones on here intend helping you pay it maybe they are best ignored - do what is right for YOU.
Elias is right, not all managers are bastards, I have friends who are managers and they do a better job than our union reps. It is not a crime to better your self, why do people go on the CWU executive. They do it to improve their lifestyle and their families. Go for it and keep your feet in the ground. As I said no need to be a bastard just because you are a manager, your job is a lot easier by treating people with respect.

You quote ,. I bet you do. In todays workplace the manager cant be mates with the same lads they are shitting on/harassing/bullying. You are obviously one of the golden ones.
You quote[treating people with respect] you may be having your bollocks tickled as you are MATES, im sure many in your office will beg to differ
