Why not?terry2972 wrote:I worked at a company with the clocking in system and you couldn't come into the building until it was clocking in time and it you clocked out say 5 mins early you got your pay docked you clocked in by inputting your own code. I hope this doesn't happen here
You are aware you are paid for the hours you work?
Go in on time, work your hours and take your breaks.
It's what you are paid for!
Bring them in asap!!!

Any ideas where we can get a copy of this as would like to pin on the wall by our signing on sheetweary_posty wrote:So I came into work today to find a group of linos and their 'pets' huddled around a piece of paper.
Turns out this piece of paper was signed by the area and local rep stating they have been made aware of the early starters and runners and explaining how what they are doing is affecting the other employees. It made for a good read....
- upto £2500 worked for free (1hr early a day for a year)
- lack of temps being made up to perm due to the lack of work
- lapsing jobs as people are completing early
- increased stress and fatigue resulting in increased lack of attendance
A few other points too.
It's recommending ALL workers work only their hours as it is all they are contracted to. All overtime should be worked exactly as it is, over you time.
It's nice to see my subs being put into action! Albeit a piece of paper and some ink.

Re: The look on their faces
I know clocking machines were used in the factories where I once worked and I am sure at Royal Mail they would save £££!!!!
BUT they were loads of disadvantages...
For one, if you arrived at the factory and clocked in just one minute later than your start time, you could be docked a full hours pay (and this could also apply to when you clocked in and out for breaks and meal relief. I suppose some of you would say well why don't you get in to work like 10 minutes earlier?? But 10 minutes early, every day is like giving the company 50 minutes a week of unpaid work every week anyway.
The other issue is one based on goodwill and trust. But I feel the main factor is that a timeclock does not measure an employees performance. For example, one worker could simply do his own round whilst taking his time; whilst another would prefer to speed round and do the extra lapsing!! Like most of you, I prefer to do the job properly BUT i cannot see the managers allowing clocking machines if it means that everyone is not taking on some of the extra work because it is currently profitable for the Royal Mail!!

If you clocked in just one minute later than your start time you would not necessarily be docked a full hours pay, the system simply recording times not automatically acting severely on the slightest failing.postslippete wrote:I know clocking machines were used in the factories where I once worked and I am sure at Royal Mail they would save £££!!!!

Yes, one worker could simply do his own round whilst taking his time whilst another would prefer to speed round and do the extra lapsing but that happens already.

Well, i can only speak from experience of working in factories that they DID dock you pay if you arrived late!!! Whether RM payroll would do the same in the future if they brought them in, who knows???
It has its advantages, don't get me wrong. Maybe it might stop staff doing all this extra lapsing if they knew that they only had to work to their time on their own delivery like others!!
thinking ahead, i wonder if management will take up on that

It was just a letter typed up by a Rep.
