Why do you think its taken four years to drag them into modernisation AND you can bet your backside their revisions are nothing like yours.norm wrote:Bloody hell, with docket some posties in london must be pusing 1K/week.

Re: NATIONAL, OUTER LONDON & INNER LONDON PAY RATES
Most London's offices have completed transformation. Office outstanding delivery method revisions are Avonmouth , Ayr ,Bridgwater, Bristol BS2 , Bristol BS5, Bristol City DO ,Cannock , Chard ,Clevedon ,Fishponds ,Keynsham , Kingswood ,Kirkby ,Leagrave ,Northolt ,Patchway ,Richmond ,Stanmore ! Thornbury ,Uttoxeter ,Westbury on Trym ,Winscombe ,Witney and Yate.
In addition there are 23 of the 104 London Delivery offices still to have the delivery method transformation revision? It was never a race and all of these offices have used the national agreement to get the best deal for the members they represent.
In terms of all the money owed then it looks like this
1073 offices have received the full £1000
234 offices have received £800
3 offices have received £600
30 offices have received £ 200
15 offices have still not received anything !
In Terms of London Weighting , it's the glue which has kept national pay bargaining together. Do you really think Royal Mail during the 80s , 90s and early 200s wanted to pay pay rises for everyone ? No they wanted to pay more where it was difficult to retain and recruit and only pay the going rate in places throughout the UK.

And is it still difficult to recruit and retain - not in the last 10 years I'll wager and I'd also wager you could get a cheaper workforce than the current one.

Re: NATIONAL, OUTER LONDON & INNER LONDON PAY RATES
London weighting was never paid on the basis of recruitment and retention but on the basis of the extra costs from living and working in the capital? Corner Reward who do independent cost of living reports state that London workers need on average an extra £6000 to have the same cost living as other places in the UK. Royal Mails London Weighting is below that figure.
it is not just house prices and rental prices but child care , general cost of living and of course the fact very few people can afford to live in inner London and there have to pay commuter fares to travel.

Re: NATIONAL, OUTER LONDON & INNER LONDON PAY RATES
Is it just me or is there a fundamental flaw in this? If posties (and presumably everyone else in London) gets 30% extra because the cost of living is higher then wouldn't that just push the cost of living up?
Surely if everyone earned twice a much a Mars bar would be £1 instead of 50p? But only London get more and a Mars bar is the same so a Londoner is better of than me.
Perhaps for example fruit and veg are harder to get into the capital so they cost more but then the higher density of demand should cut costs and a Londoner is still better off.
It may seem trivial but a £300 TV bought on Amazon costs me a 100% of a weeks wages but a Londoner still has £100 in the bank.

It's more to do with property price/council tax.Spedley wrote:Is it just me or is there a fundamental flaw in this? If posties (and presumably everyone else in London) gets 30% extra because the cost of living is higher then wouldn't that just push the cost of living up?

Take a look at the relative council tax in London areas and see how many pay more than the 1450 quid a year I pay.norm wrote:It's more to do with property price/council tax.

Ha Ha Ha Ha Ha Bonk. (That's me laughing my head off)
The societies of consumption and squandering of material resources are incompatible with the idea of economic growth and a clean planet.
