Is 4 mph possible

Yes

Is it safe?

Well on flat ground with no weight yes

While carrying a bag/pulling a trolley/watching for hazards

In my opinion
No

So excuse me if I deem it safer to walk at 3mph whilst carrying out my
Dynamic risk assessments

That screeching sound was my heels digging in
:wave

I appreciate all your reply's and all of you make very valid points,i agree that the people who use proper delivery methods seem to be targeted for doing the job as it should be done,i have just sent an email to the area delivery rep,i would think that i will get his point of view tomorrow, reading all your replies has put me at ease, thanks again.

Although the runners still finish early AND the overtime folkes are still allowed to do as they wish!!!

Fine i thought bring it on,i start when i should,i use a lwt, sometimes i fail sometimes i don't,i thought i had nothing to fear.

as far as i'm concerned the day went well.

This morning he called me in to tell me i was slow,he is now considering adding extra to my duty,i could hardly contain my anger,i was furious.

I have been good enough for this job for over 25 years,i am over 50 but i have seen other posties walking and i think i'm around the same.

I don't think i can go any faster,my pace is good enough to get me around without killing myself.

I have searched on this forum about walk speeds but nothing seems to be official.

Can anyone clarify if there is anything OR any official agreement on walking speeds

What can the dom do if i do not go any faster, how can he prove i was slow ETC ETC

i would like to arm myself with some information before i go any further.

Thanks to anyone who replies.
hi has he tested your prep etc indoors ? and who did he test the outdoor side with ?
There is no nationally agreed prep test on a duty frame.
me and my p&l partner have gone through this at our office , the only figure we was given was 25 per minute on your frame and that incs d2ds in and double slots , I asked him I thought it was a test on a single and clear frame , he said it doesn't matter, regardless we have pissed everything hes thrown at us so we have been waiting about 2 mths to be outdoor tested , so until then we finish on time , no collapse , and taking 2 loops back everyday , :nana

All the indoor staff and doms finish on or before their time, why can't we? All should return until a national hooter sounds at 2:10 or whatever, then all indoor and outdoor staff can leave together.
Why are lino's paid full-time ??

Workotime, you say you take back two loops a day. Are these reported to the dom before you leave and if so, what instructions does he give you on a daily basis in respect of your overrunning mail?

Ask the twat to demonstrate, ( with a lwt ) exactly how fast you should be walking.
I married my wife for her looks, but not the one she gave me when i said i was going to be a postman.

yes he is told that we cant complete within our time so what would you like us to do , he says take it out and delivery what you can , ring me , bring it back . oh we do get a lot of outdoor visits on delivery by doms , but when you have nothing to hide makes no difference. lol

How many extra delivery points does the DOM want added to the walk? 100-125? If so, that will likely be why he asked you to not do D2D or take indoor meal relief that day, to give ~40mins indoor time and show DOM's superiors there is scope to increase the duty size. :whistle

Totally agree with you, went in this morning, nothing said no bother, business as usual, spoke to local rep he more or less said the same as folkes on here,he just told me to carry on as normal and not to worry abut things, the doms under pressure to make more savings and he's now running out of ideas of what to do,so he's trying to apply pressure were he can.
