Not informing the royal mail about the second job

Hi,

I have a friend who has applied for job role in royal mail. But in the interview he told them that if he gets the royal mail job(temp contract work) he will quit the job as he thought if he said he works full time in other job he might not get this job.

Does he need to give a P45 when he starts the new job. Or can he mentioned to the new payroll that give the tax code 944L to this new job. Since this jobs pay more salary than his other job can he contact HMRC/Employer and informed to change the Original jobs tax code to BR.

If your mate is going to work over 48 hours with both jobs combined then he has to inform his employers as failure to do so means he is breaking the working time directive and this leaves his employers in a difficult position. Also its part of the Royal mail employment contract that you inform them you are working in another job, if they fail to inform Royal Mail then its a breach of contract and instant dismissal is a distinct possibility, and further sanctions are possible.

He wont exceed 48 hours (Max 40). Its just he trying to get more money and paying tax accordingly. How can royal mail find it as there wont be clash in the two jobs..Is there a way they can find. I dont think they can check that details with HMRC.

If he works more than 48 hours he can definitely tell the present job place without any problem.

MY friends plans to say that from the first job he will be taking few months no pay leave so make the new job tax code as 944l.
Can he speak to HMRC and change the tax code to BR on his first job??

My friend finally decide just go for the New job and quit the first job if he cant get any unpaid leave. HE will be applying for some government benefit till he gets a full time opportunity in RM.

I got the starter pack in the post today. At the time of my application I did not have any other paid work, however I have since started another paid job. I informed my other employer that I intend to temp with RM and that I will be going over 48 hours p/w across the two jobs. I will send the employee starter declaration form in the pack to Sheffield, should I enclose a covering letter telling RM that I now have other paid work, or is ticking the 'I have another job' box on the declaration form sufficient?

Hi there,
If i do part time in royal mail and another part time job(which is not a competitor of royal mail) and both the jobs together are not going over 40 hours.
In this case if i do not inform royal mail about my second job can they take any actions against me?
In royal mail hand book it says must report any other employment. I do not want royal mail to know about my second job. advise please.

I am a part timer in royal mail and I do another part time job. Both these jobs hours together are less than 40 hours per week.(my other employer is not a competitor of royal mail. it is completely different field.)
in royal mail hand book it says you must report any other employment. I do not want to tell RM about my second job.what action can RM take if they find out about it?. I am doing it for some time and many of other colleagues does it as well. I checked with some of them. None of them are informed RM. can they ask me to stop it if they find it?. What type of conduct code I can expect if they discover? Some advices pls from the experts and from experieces or from any one.
