"Guaranteeing"? "Promising"? They're minor inexperienced politicians desperately hoping to win. Naive to think any so-called promises or guarantees made now are worth anything long term.zx135 wrote: with the SNP guaranteeing service levels as they are at the moment with the USO, also with the promise of renationalising RM, why exactly do you think there will be job losses?

Re: If Scotland votes aye
this from a Nat MSP
" Both of these companies have their global headquarters in Scotland. Standard Life employs around 5000 people in Scotland and RBS employs around 12000. What an absolutely bewildering statement for her to make! We cannot allow clueless people like this to play such a dangerous game with our future!
Christine Grahame (SNP MSP) has just been quoted live on TV saying Standard Life and RBS, "may have a brass plate in Scotland but that's about all.

I've fallen through the looking glass here. The rest of the UK have woken up two weeks before polling day and are coming out with all the whataboutery arguments we've been having for the last five years.

Snag being of course the arguments have neither been rebuffed nor answered even after 5 years. This is merely a political ploy and will not benefit the people of Scotland one jot.speckledtangerine wrote:I've fallen through the looking glass here. 1. What will be the base rate in 2016?
2. What new powers will be given to Holyrood irrespective of who wins the 2015 election?
3. Will the UK still be in the EU by 2017?

Re: If Scotland votes aye
Where is the snp going to get the money for all these policies, rural ares are the biggest loss leaders in Royal Mail and we have huge area's like this in Scotland.zx135 wrote:mailman71 wrote:Still waiting to hear from some of the yes voters what sort of job we will have if its a yes vote.

with the SNP guaranteeing service levels as they are at the moment with the USO, also with the promise of renationalising RM, why exactly do you think there will be job losses?
Even with Royal Mail in its present form there has been job losses so what's going to happen when we lose all the big centre's from down south.
We will have to sign new contracts in an independent Scotland, does anybody think we will have the same wages and conditions if they do the are dreaming.
In the 40 plus years with Royal Mail we have had to fight a lot of battles with Royal Mail to get ŵhere we are as regards pay and conditions so to see theses gains lost would be tragic.
