It doesn't say it won't be delivered by 1pm only that SGs will be delivered on Saturday and others may be delivered on Saturday. Unless there is a retention from a customer then there should be an attempt to deliver.zx135 wrote:Delivery by 1pm the next working day. Re: Special delivery
I think if you're told by management to deliver a special by 1pm on a saturday it's pretty irrelevant what the special delivery terms and conditions are.
The question is whether it would trigger a "fail" on the BlackBay system. The jury is out, I'm not going to try it out just for information's sake.

blackbay does show it as a fail, also areas where there is a 1pm exemption also show as a fail on black bay even though they are actually being delivered to product spec to their area

Re: Special delivery
I agree with you. What's your take on the non-signature DUN note "specials", usually from the US and are practically indistinguishable from "recordeds" received through the normal mail.fishtank wrote:I think if you're told by management to deliver a special by 1pm on a saturday it's pretty irrelevant what the special delivery terms and conditions are.

Re: Special delivery
We're still treating them as specials but they definitely do not trigger a post 1pm "fail" on BlackBay. In my opinion it's a nonsense treating something you can stuff through a letterbox as a special but I guess the reason we're doing it is because posties can't be trusted to scan them otherwise.dvbuk55 wrote:What's your take on the non-signature DUN note "specials", usually from the US and are practically indistinguishable from "recordeds" received through the normal mail.

Re: Special delivery
If they don't trigger a 1pm fail when I go in on Wednesday I'll try to get a definitive decision on how we should treat them - it'll help if it is just that day, though some have another label pasted on that says follow the instructions on the PDA - though what that is I have no idea.fishtank wrote:We're still treating them as specials but they definitely do not trigger a post 1pm "fail" on BlackBay. Re: Special delivery
TBH if Black Bay flags it up as a failure then it is a failure and needs to be addressed by the DOM. However what is a 1pm exemption area, I've never heard of it?zx135 wrote:fishtank wrote:I think if you're told by management to deliver a special by 1pm on a saturday it's pretty irrelevant what the special delivery terms and conditions are.

theres a fair few post codes where its not possible to deliver by 1pm, so some have extensions to 5.30pm, some even by an extra day or 2, all details of which postcodes are on RM website

Re: Special delivery
USPS or other international stuff doesn't fail. It is official they DO NOT need to be done by 1pm, only RM ones need to be done by 1pmdvbuk55 wrote:If they don't trigger a 1pm fail when I go in on Wednesday I'll try to get a definitive decision on how we should treat them - it'll help if it is just that day, though some have another label pasted on that says follow the instructions on the PDA - though what that is I have no idea.fishtank wrote:We're still treating them as specials but they definitely do not trigger a post 1pm "fail" on BlackBay. Correct, there was an article in this months Courier stating this was the case.dave72 wrote:USPS or other international stuff doesn't fail. Re: Special delivery
Wrong! Mailsort arrives at inward MCs the day before it's due for delivery so when it arrives in the DO for delivery, it's due for delivery that day. Why give RM an excuse to lower head counts?zx135 wrote:2 (in regard to what can be left on a saturday)Depending on the local agreement in the office some types of mailsort can be left on saturday to enable an earlier finish as per previous agreements which have not been superceeded

Re: Special delivery
Yes that was true BUT according to the DSM they have to be delivered by 1pm - thing is, why would they come through as special when they merely need to be tracked in the same way as a recorded and as for exemptions it would help to have a few of those.Biker Mouse wrote:Correct, there was an article in this months Courier stating this was the case.

The bottom line is that if RM doesn't deliver it on Saturday, another company will and that will be traffic (and revenue) lost by RM and enough revenue loss will lead to RM wanting to make savings which would probably mean cutting hours and/or jobsWhere in the UK do you deliver?

so last time we discussed this, i showed you the national agreement which allows for the mailsort to be held in delivery office to provide an earlier finish on a saturday, you keep saying i am wrong but can you provide any proof at all of this? again i have shown you the national agreement which hasnt been superseded

Re: Special delivery
It's simple, any mail that arrives at a DO apart from d2d is due for delivery that day, there's no ifs or buts. If it's mech, it'll be in with the sequenced mail. You'll get no sympathy from me if your DOM were to do you for willfull delay
