If they are scanned in for delivery that day then they're due for 1pm, we've had Saturday failures with normal specials.bigcol wrote:There's no technical or otherwise about it, it hasn't failed. All specials need to be attempted on a Saturday. It's no good scanning them as not delivered without going out as RM can see the geographical location where it was scanned and RM could charge you with wilful delaybigcol wrote:How many more times.OnAFlyer wrote:If they are scanned in for delivery that day then they're due for 1pm, we've had Saturday failures with normal specials.bigcol wrote:There's no technical or otherwise about it, it hasn't failed. Wrong! Apart from d2ds ANYTHING that arrives at a DO that day is due for delivery that day.bigcol wrote:How many more times.SpacePhoenix wrote:All specials need to be attempted on a Saturday. Re: Special delivery
The customer paying for the service on a Friday is told that it will be guaranteed by 1pm on Monday.
The postie who delivers it at 1pm is responsible for a 'failed' special.
The customer can't complain, the postie can end up having a 'chat' with lino and filling in some TWATTR forms.
Thats the rules, they make no sense, but that's how the rules area applied.

Re: Special delivery
I don't see the point of guaranteed delivery by 1 o'clock, why not just guarantee it for next day?

Please tell me you don't do this!!!
You are going to end up in a lot of trouble otherwise, especially as your PDA logs everything....
So to clarify, when 1pm specials are allocated in the morning; then they are due for delivery that day BEFORE 1pm. If a customer wants an item guaranteed for the weekend, they may opt to use Saturday guaranteed. However, they are due for 1pm delivery when they are scanned in the morning.
If a postie has then delivered the item AFTER 1pm, then it will be classed as 'FAILED' on the system and the customer is eligible for a full refund of the special delivery postage that they paid for that item. Now i know that might sound mind boggling to some of you that used to use the white cards to get customer signatures on and have them scanned in when you get back to the depot after 1pm. But the PDAs now link directly to comms, even though battery life does lead something to be desired.
Also, the customer can claim an additional compensation of £5 if Royal Mail delivered the item more than 24 hours (Mon-Fri) after the guaranteed time, or an additional £10 if it was delivered 7 or more working days after the guaranteed time. If you are claiming for a special item you received, you must apply within 1 month of receipt too.
Another thing I should point out is that the customer can also buy consequential loss for up to £10,000 at an additional cost - so please treat delivering your specials with care!!!
On the face of it, shareholder value is the dumbest idea in the world.

Re: Special delivery
someone got fired from our office for doing something similar, IB went out on her delivery and caught her doing it. Btw arent you the one who was talking about an idea of letting mail build up then delivering it in one day ? Seems like youre trying to cut too many corners, Id be very careful if I were you. Just a friendly warning, wouldnt want you to lose your job.sophie97 wrote:Just scan as not delivered before 1pm then deliver it whenever....

He is not wrong,
1 (in regard to the issue in the post) he stated quite clearly that only specials with SG are due for delivery by 1pm. that is correct other specials can be delivered later in the day on saturday and do not need to be done by 1pm
2 (in regard to what can be left on a saturday)Depending on the local agreement in the office some types of mailsort can be left on saturday to enable an earlier finish as per previous agreements which have not been superceeded
3 Mail to addresses where a Saturday retention is in force is also not due for delivery until the monday

Re: Special delivery
I'd certainly like to see that in writing and I don't mean on this forum - I have heard it mooted before but I have asked for clarification and been told it is 1pm Saturday if it is scheduled for delivery guaranteed or not. The criterion has always been "every attempt must be made" which I have seen in writing and that any holdovers must be at the customers request. There is also the question of non-uk "specials" received on the DUN which do not require a signature but despite the Courier saying they do not need to be delivered by 1pm - we have been instructed that they MUST be delivered by then - who knows?zx135 wrote:He is not wrong,

Re: Special delivery
I just treat a special by the time on the packet , ie 9am by 9am , 1pm by 1pm and everything else when I get there. I've never been questioned for a late failure.

Delivery by 1pm the next working day. Items posted on a Friday may be delivered on a Saturday if possible, but Saturday delivery is guaranteed if you choose Saturday guaranteed delivery for an additional charge
