sjnb6 wrote:when will the union get a better deal for the delivery staff. we get all the hassle when delivering , try and cut off and we have to justify it. try and book extended and its like using the dims own money. the d2d payments are a joke. even the workers who don't deliver them get paid.
I know what you mean here! You are comparing what you do opposed to what others do in your office who are not on deliveries and I agree totally with you 100% the facts here are that the union sold us down the river but in exchange if they had not hundreds if not thousands would have lost their jobs! saying that and when the 3 year curfew has passed I can fully expect this allowance to be reviewd again, no doubt about that.
NO bags on shoulders please except for Moya who keeps her big fat wage packet in hers

Re: better deal for delivey staff
please stop knocking mail centre staff, we are all posties here! some have it easy some have it rough in both functions. I work in a mail centre but I did deliveries for many years and in both functions there is good and bad. I am still in contact with some of my old delivery mates and they have the exact same issues as many of you. we all know a small minority of staff in both functions are ruining this job for all of us, but remember these wasters are a MINORITY its not the unions fault either, sadly its partly our fault as we let this happen.! we have a start time and finish time stick to it, we have a break time use it before we lose them, we have a safe system of work apply it, and please don't let these jumped up managers intimidate you or your workmates don't turn a blind eye to this because like any bully they will keep pushing. only by standing together and taking what we are due we will make this job better for all of us. rant over

Hardly fair for FTers then, as PTers could potentially earn more.DB1100 wrote:Also once you have worked your contracted hours you should be on overtime rate, none of this working 39 hrs before you get overtime rate.
What needs to be addressed is PTers who do OT need to have their average hours reflected when they take holidays or S/L.

Re: better deal for delivey staff
Whats not fair about it? a f/t gets overtime rate the minute he goes over his contracted hours so why can't a p/t,what needs looking at is the fact that p/t staff need to be made up to fulltime.norm wrote:Hardly fair for FTers then, as PTers could potentially earn more.DB1100 wrote:Also once you have worked your contracted hours you should be on overtime rate, none of this working 39 hrs before you get overtime rate.

Think of it like this, we on delivery are the professional football players with all the talent but also the physical challenges, the injuries and the short careers, we should be well paid to reflect that.

We had a bit of luck one year - when snowed in me old man trudged through the ice 2 miles to the old red telephone box and cut the thick leather straps off the door so we had something to chew and suck on. Happy days.dvbuk55 wrote:God you must have been rich, we only had a picture of a candle and had next door turn their wireless up so we could listen to the Archers - ah yes happy days - course we have our own radio nowbustedflush wrote:White pudding?
