same at our place.everyone on sorting and no one portering.pigeon holes got full and sorters have to empty them to carry on.total waste of time.

Yep, it's official.Mail's dropping off and the lunatics are now running the asylum.

Portering was used one day last last week.

It coincided with a visit by our area manager the same day

Lasted a little while in my do. Now its one person in the pair ips, the other one prepping. They can swap over as much as they want as long as there is one doing ips and the other prepping. We sort ourselves out and funny enough, it works!

It did work when introduced and I thought it was a good idea which helped get us out quicker, and of course the DIM thought it was good as it meant more time for absorption. It broke down after a couple of months due to staff shortages and is now back to 'up and down' to retrieve your mail from the main frame. The managers were dumping it on our frames last week themselves as there were so many flats to sort and the main boxes were filling too fast.....

no porters, double prepping, now DOM wants triple prepping because of new sorting frames i have to walk further to get mail and plcs

No porters from day one. Backless frames against the wall because there is no room . Black portering trollies just used to convey mail to vans.

Another brilliant idea from some idiot high up, we have 5 sorters a day to clear the IPS, used to get it done no problem using the old system, now it`s very usual to leave mail behind ,They also have to put early morning sorters in or we be right up the creek . the one and only plus is my job is prepped when I finally get back to my board.
