A woman who was out when her parcel was delivered was stunned when she read the note left by the courier – and found her package had been put in her food waste bin.
Twitter user @chii_kyna posted the image of the Royal Mail ‘sorry we missed you’ card saying the items were in her ‘Safeplace’, underneath which ‘FOOD WASTE BIN’ was scrawled.
Chi, from Bromley, Kent, said she ‘did a double-take’ when she read the words, believing no postman would be so callous with her delivery – especially when there was a more obvious place to put it.

‘I thought I had read it wrong,’ she said.
‘Then I opened up the half-full food bin and saw the sizeable parcel – which could have been placed underneath the plastic recycle box next to the food bin.’
Chi added that the parcel contained software and a disc drive from Apple and should have been handled with more care.
Her tweet, which was posted with the words ‘this is a lovely way to treat parcels…NOT!!’ was replied to almost immediately by @RoyalMail, who apologised and offered to report the incident.

@RoyalMail I would like to report it, especially as it was my @AppleUKStore parcel. Thankfully @UPS delivers the laptops and computers!
