Why would the rest of the UK get to vote on whether Scotland leaves the union or not?
Would you accept the rest of Europe deciding whether the UK gets to leave the EU?

Certainly would. Our being in the EU affects them and whether or not Scotland is part of the UK affects all of the UK. I find it somewhat alarming that you as a CWU rep cannot see this ????

Now if you use RM as an example. It's expensive to deliver to all parts off UK, because most of the population is is in the South. On the same note Scot's cost more per head than the rest of the UK because almost everything financial is based in the South.
Scotland would have to rebuild it's own economy and many company's in the South will effectively lose 5-6 million potential customers as Scotland would look to centralize everything for it's own benefit. You just keep kidding your-self that England will be better off. The reason the English don't get a say is because of their inability to see the bigger picture.
What is not being reported and being denied by the No organisation is the growth of the Yes movement. This is being driven at the grass roots, many of them have never ever been involved in party politics and more have never ever voted before. The "official" polls figures do not match up with the figures being gathered at the doors by the Yes movement, the social media is the Yes movement ground, the artists and writers of Scotland are collaborating and contributing creatively to the Yes movement ( http://nationalcollective.com" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; ) . The anti poll tax movement was big, the anti war movement was big, this Yes movement is just even bigger and more diverse. There is no leader, just a mass of people coming together, you can slag it off, ridicule it, lie to it but its growing every day.

Then again it doesn't surprise me!
You cannot allow one country to determine the democratic future of another simply because it "affects" you,
If you did you would encourage empire building, the right to self determination is enshrined in international law and is not supposed to be open to the greed or whims of another nation. Too many people south of the border see Scotland as a region of England. It is and always has been a separate nation in its own right and all it is asking for is the right to ask its population whether they want to govern themselves. We are not asking to become a separate nation, we already are.

and what would Westminster do without the money that Scotland gives them, per head Scotland gives more to Westminster than it gets back,so us leaving the union we would not need to subsidize Westminster anymore

Really? I'd like to see the audited account for that statement - not that I think a yes or no vote will effectively alter the situation for the majority of UK citizens but who knows? It may well prove to be an interesting time, I'm sure the politicos will have a whale of a time.

First post and complete rubbish well done! England finances the rest of the UK. Correction... London finances the rest of the UK. If you think otherwise you are fooling yourself!

Great statement full of contradiction within itself.
"It is and always has been a separate nation in its own right"
No it isn't and it has been for centuries. If it was there would be no need for a vote on independence.
"We are not asking to become a separate nation, we already are"
Again why would there be a need for a vote on Scottish independence if England was a separate nation? We are all part of the UK. Scotland assumes it has the right to be part of the UK. Why should only the Scots be allowed to decide if they remain part of the UK? Why can they decide if they want to stay and yet we have no right to kick them out? You are starting to sound like RM management where they make up the rules to suit themselves!

utter tosh if you look at the figures and they are there for all to see,Scotland contributes 9.9% of the UK tax and in return Scotland only receives 9.3% of that money back which in money terms equates to us giving the UK government an extra £4.4 billion so yes London finances Scotland

Now I didn't know that - I just wonder why the 50+ million who don't live in London pay tax when the 8+ million in London are keeping us in the manner we are accustomed to. What's the expenditure per head in London as opposed to lets say Newcastle?

The tax you pay doesn't cover your local council costs. I'm not going to give you an economics lecture but do some research if you are that bothered. Like it or not the fat cat bankers of London contribute to your street lighting to make up the shortfall.

What utter twaddle where did you get your figures from Alex Salmond by any chance!

You wouldn't understand economics if it bit you in the arse Judgee. Oh yes the fat cat bankers not those self same bankers who needed 50 Billion to bale them out is it?
