Given that you don't know what was said, how are you solely commenting on the alleged incident.
You know absolutely nothing about the incident.
The poster made it clear that the comment was racist and deeply offensive.
You have decided it was a minor incident.

Roger Dawcy posted that "It referred to people of a certain race always wanting overtime, so it's work related" but as 'bustedflush' rightly comments "IF a certain ethnic group are (factually) acting in a certain way whether criminally or positively (as in this case working long hours) then as long as the truth is being told then there should be NO fear of retribution if told politely without aggression or insult."
What we don't know is whether the DOM actually made an incredibly offensive racist comment or whether a 'politically correct' Roger Dawcy considers referring to people of a certain race always wanting overtime, which might not be far from the truth, to be offensive.
It would therefore be helpful if Roger Dawcy could give us a better indication of what the DOM actually did say, otherwise further discussion based on wild speculation will be futile.

Some individuals from a certain workplace may be acting in a certain way, they may even all be from a certain ethnic group but none of that justifies the extrapolation from a small group of people to an entire race, unless you have some kind of genuine verifiable data to suggest that this small group of individuals is representative of the entire ethnic group and if you don't obviously it's a racist comment.

Fish,
The words I myself was quoting refer to a possible statement of fact which, given the reluctance of many of us nowadays to do overtime, if true surely reflects positively on a "certain ethnic group", not that there was any intention or need for the comment to be interpreted as implying anything about what happens beyond the Royal Mail working environment, let alone jumping to any conclusions about "an entire race".

It should be impossible for the actions of a tiny minority of people to reflect either positively or negatively on a "certain ethnic group". That is the definition of racial stereotyping. Of course the reality in this insular little island is slightly different but that doesn't make it any more acceptable.

Why bring race into the equation at all? Why make the statement on FaceBook? Why make the statement at all. At best it shows a complete lack of judgement by the manager in question, unbelievable immaturity and an inability to understand the very basics of team management, at worst it shows him up as a complete racist...whether it's the former or the latter from a Royal Mail perspective is a moot point...it's employment suicide either way. If he loses his job because someone "grasses" him up it will be his own gross stupidity that has cost him his livelyhood and his family their security.

This seems to certainly be a comment which RM should investigate, if the DOM is saying "its always this group that wants overtime" then thats one thing, maybe something RM would have to "retrain" the manager on to not make such comments again. However, if after investigation its found that not only did the DOM make this comment but is proactively stopping this group from doing OT or treating them differently than others then its definitely something RM would have to throw the book at him for.

As I commented earlier it would be helpful if Roger Dawcy could give us a better indication of what the DOM actually did say, otherwise further discussion based on wild speculation will be futile.
If a DOM resentfully said "its always this group that wants overtime" or, as is likely, worse then that clearly is NOT acceptable.
But if a DOM positively suggested that 'this group' often help us out with overtime when we're short staffed and might now be able to clear the current backlog then what's the problem ?

I don't want to post the actual status because you never know who might see.

It wasn't positive, it was offensive and used more than one racial slur.

You know absolutely nothing about the incident.

Only what's been written in this thread, just as you do. Unlike you though, even though I know "absolutely nothing" I don't call for him to be reported for racism.

You have decided it was a minor incident.

And you decided it wasn't, even though you also know "absolutely nothing" about it. Guilty of racism, because someone else says so?
Gotta love the Left-leaning non-intelligencia though. They would happily deny others the hard-won rights and freedoms we all enjoy in a heart-beat.

Hang on while I laugh at your stupidity.
There is nothing funnier than a pseudo intellectual.
The societies of consumption and squandering of material resources are incompatible with the idea of economic growth and a clean planet.

If it's as bad as has been made out, why is it being debated on here? If you think it is offensive ,report it to Facebook, or ignore it, there is too much of this going on ,where the thought police get involved. Plus if he had used a racial slur ,it would have been picked up by others, surely?

We debate lots of subjects on here, Is racism taboo? I know a lot of people don't like discussing racism but surely the mentality that if we don't talk about it then it doesn't happen died out in the 1970s...surely?

Unfortunately some people use THE CARD, at every opportunity, your mate cash city is renowned for it. We should ALL remember it is the LABOUR party who got us in this particular mess with there uncontrolled immigration policy which they have tried to cover up and now even they are realising the errors of Tony B. LIAR and his cronies.
Onto the issue in question its a win win as far as I am concerned. The dom gets sacked and the same people get stopped from doing the same overtime

Why?
None of the parties UKIP included give a flying f**k about your immigration fixation other than playing to your own misguided anxieties for some cheap votes so what difference does it make who did what to who and when. Money/economic policy drives immigration/migration policy, f**k all else.
