tried the anvils and couldn't wear them, so got the YDS's got to say in my opinion they the best foot wear iv had off royal mail in the 15 year iv been here, comfy and waterproof, not sure how long they will last tho,

agree...YDS are very good.
comfy,waterproof and havent sl**ped since wearing them. (4 months)

They are comfortable for the first few hours but then really hurt the soles of your feet, more cheap crap uniform, just like the new shirts are rubbish compared to the old much better quality ones.

Tried my YDS on today for delivery. Oh my arches! They don't seem particularly supportive!

I have got double insoles in my YDS trainers for more cushioning but they are now a bit tight apart from that they are great, waterproof and not slipped in them yet.
Will go up a size for the next ones though (do they do 1/2 sizes ? )

You're not supposed to wear both, it's either one or the other

So that's part of the subsole showing on my new YDS trainers! Don't know if my shoddy mobile phone pic shows it well.
Only had my YDS since the 9th of August! I must walk funny as it seems to be the right hand edge of my left shoe which wears the worst!

Dickies are doing some nice boots..but obviously, theres the RM Rules/Regs to consider.

But...If alternative boots pass the same EN ( Euro Safety tests ), then why shouldnt we be able to wear them?

Same with the Hi Viz jackets...RM Stormproofs. These are only £25 on Ebay, so their "cost" is around a tenner, or less.
You can't tell me a well-used £200 3 layer Goretex all weather jacket, with a HI VIZ tabard, isn't much better on a 4 - 5hr walk?

Gonna be my 1st choice when Noah and his floods return in a few weeks.

If there really are Royal Mail Stormproofs on eBay (I couldn't find them) then they are stolen so I don't think you can use them as an indicator of the cost. They used to use Gore type technology although I am not sure these days whether it's micropore or hydrophilic technology. I don't think you'll get that for £10.

It might have looked the same but it won't be. The Stormproof isn't padded for warmth because in previous versions people complained that it was too warm when it's wet but not cold (like today!). The idea is that you can wear layers underneath the stormproof for warmth.
